FTFA: They were told being in the group could make them money.

Sounds about as legit as those "make $8,000/month working from home using your computer" ads

Not any more. The Credit CARD act of 2009 requires college students to either have a source of income or a parent cosigning before they can get a credit card. It was actually an exceptional law. You should look into it.

A female coworker wanted to call me at 6:15 because she felt "apprehensive and sad".

Tell her to put on her happy panties, go to work, take off her panties and throw them in a desk drawer. If you do that every time you are sad and/or apprehensive, you will wind up with a drawer full of panties. And that's something the janitor, who goes through every desk, will appreciate.

Had an HR lady call me one morning and walk her through connecting to the company e-mail via a 1-800 number. She then stayed connected to it for a week while on vacation. Guess who got ripped when the bill for the 1-800 number showed 104 hour continuous connection?

That law is hilarious, because it reminds me of the time one of my roommates signed up for a credit card to get a free shirt.  Took him a week of calling to get it cancelled, thanks to the random disconnects, transfers, and long hold times he had to deal with.

I don't care who you work for; it can be a Fortune 500 megacorporation or a small self-contained startup -- "HR ladies" are some of the dumbest creatures on the planet. I once worked in the IT Department at Kennedy Space Center, and I was amazed by the amount of stupid wafting out of their HR department. One woman called me to find out what would happen if she "fed coins into the slot on her 'computer box' ". She'd been shoving spare change in the 3.5" disk drive for no reason whatsoever.

Well... that's good.

It's been a while since I was in college. Pretty much the entire campus had a TCF logo displayed prominently somewhere.
