Smashed Hat: Is it sad that I can't name one of them?
DON.MAC: Smashed Hat: Is it sad that I can't name one of them? That "chart" only goes back 20 years so no.
cman: Old joke is old
Diogenes: cman: Old joke is oldSome scars never fade.
enderthexenocide: doesn't matter though. #1s on the pop charts mean nothing these days, although they did used to mean something. in 50 years, people will still remember elvis presley as the king of rock and roll, but if anyone remembers rihanna at all in 50 years, it will be as just another pop singer like katy perry or nikki minaj or something. she might have the most hit songs right now, but her music is still disposable and unremarkable as far as pop music is concerned.
Dr.Zom: Smashed Hat: Is it sad that I can't name one of them?Name one? I'm pretty sure I've never even heard one. Same goes for Chris Brown.
red5ish: Billboard is having a hard time trying to remain relevant. They keep changing their methodology for charting as technology changes. As a result making comparisons with past charting is becoming an apples and oranges cluster.

kevinatilusa: Some band called the Beatles had 20 #1's. Of course, they were piddly #1's on the Hot 100, not the new-and-shiny "Pop Songs Radio Airplay Chart", so I guess that doesn't count for Subby.
InmanRoshi: Smashed Hat: Is it sad that I can't name one of them? It's actually a beautiful thing that technology and music have fragmented the market to the point that you can immerse yourself in your own niche musical world and avoid being completely inundated and beaten over the head with today's version of Color Me Badd, Winger or Gerardo.
xoxo: I'm still waiting for her cover of He Hit Me And It Felt Like A Kiss. You just know she's gonna do it one day as a FU to the h8trs.

HAMMERTOE: She was tied with Elton John before. But, that's where the comparison pretty much ends. He's got soundtracks to block-buster movies to his credit. She's got... a b-lister part in a Hollywood bastardization of a classic game that nobody plays anymore. He writes and performs all his music, and can do an entire show solo with a piano if he chooses. She's got... skimpy outfits. And bruises.
