(Forbes)   Barry Sanders picked to be on next Madden NFL cover, which means the "curse" has gone retroactive. Somebody'd better warn Theismann   (forbes.com) divider line 5

Gulper Eel: SuperChuck: ny list that doesn't have Jim Brown first is suspect. And Barry was better than Sayers. And possibly Payton too

If you want a pure runner, it's Sanders.

If you want the guy who changed the game, Brown.

But if you want the best all-around player it's Payton. He spent the first half of his career making a passable football team out of a complete shiat sandwich of an offense. If you gave Payton the quarterbacks, lines and receivers that Sanders or (especially) Emmitt Smith worked with, he'd have run for 22,000 yards.

um...as a life long lions fan, im confused by the mention of "quaterbacks, lines, and receivers" that sanders had... is the QB you are referring to Scott "stone shoes" Mitchell, Andre "i won the heisman" Ware, or maybe Rodney "my wife is hot" Peete?  Other than lomas brown and herman moore.....wow, those teams sucked.  Sanders was really the only good player on those teams.  Throw in wayne fontes as a coach and we got ourselves a game.

Jim Brown and Walter Payton are probably the best running backs to play the game.

Neither of those two were half as much fun to watch run as Barry Sanders. This is why this argument will go on forever, and you will choose the best based on what your definition of a great back is.

Walter Payton, Jim Brown, Gale Sayers. These guys were the best at the position of course. But they all did things other players could do. Barry ran like nobody before or since. It was magic, I miss watching him play.

Has any other team ever had the cover for two straight years? Detroit has to be feeling kind of screwed here.

/Wonder how much of the vote was Vikings fans voting against AP
