Most of the players look like they're just doing the waltz together.  Except the goalies, who apparently don't get to fight enough, since they're really going at it.

Going to sites that have autoplay ads makes me all slashie, hooky, and punchy too. I've got to stop using IE.

Back-up goalies have plenty of energy left after a game.  Most other players don't.  And obviously the player that was being escorted by the official right after the horn said something to the other team to light the fuse.  I'd love to know what it was.

Doesn't matter. The Mooseheads have the QMJHL locked up. All of the other teams should just quit now. :)

One poor bastard was getting tuned at centre ice pretty much the whole time, but the officials were too busy to bail him out.

That was stupid. Just stupid. And the QMJHL agrees.

There was a college team up in Alaska called the ice dogs, They weren't good for much of anything other than fighting. I remember they pulled this kind of shiat once, and the whole team was prohibited from playing for the rest of the season. I'm not sure about the other team. I think they were from Canada or something.

One player got fined $1000. I know playing in this league costs you NCAA eligibility, how much do these kids get paid?

The coaches suspended? The only guys besides the refs trying to get guys off the ice? Makes sense.

Now to be legal in Quebec...
Les entraîneurs suspendus? Les seuls gars en plus les arbitres tentent d'obtenir les gars sur la glace? Fait sens.

Goalies fighting is hilarious. What are you going to do to each other? You've got 4 feet of padding on every part of your body.

Watch early in the video. To me, it almost looked like the home team's coach (the losing team last night) was motioning for his team to do  something to the other team. I might be completely misreading his actions (and I don't know enough French to know what the announcers were saying), but that's how it looked to me.

Can't explain the other team's coach getting banned other than it being for losing control of his players.

Which I don't have a problem with.  Players get suspended all the time for reckless use of sticks, so why can't coaches get dinged for not controlling their team(which is kinda, you know, their job)?

It's not IE, it's the web page.  Happens in Firefox too.

How to be annoying: make the video auto-play when you visit the page.
How to make people never come back to your website ever again: make an ad video auto-play when you visit the page.
How to double-down on the HAY GUYZ LETS DERP: autoplay both the video and the ad, and make the volume of the ad five times louder than the video.

Oh, I'm not saying that his suspension is wrong. The coach does need to control his players.

Minor threadjack to post the Friday NHL clinch scenarios... though there's only 1.

Minnesota (@COL) will clinch a playoff spot with a win (by virtue of the ROW tiebreaker advantage over Columbus).

Also, with Thursday's results; the East playoff spots are all claimed. Only question is seeding.

And the alternate points systems standings through Thursday's games. Note that under International rules, all playoff spots would be clinched as of Thursday.

They get a small stipend to help with expenses. For most teams it's about $200 per week for each player. Usually all the players get the same amount. You live with a host family who provides basic necessities like food, clothing, transportation to the rink, etc. Usually those families also get a weekly stipend from the team + season tickets.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing in the Q, the team pays player fines. There is no players union or anything like that. (yet)
