So... If your parents or awesome uncle remember being a part of the Soviet Union, you can assume that- SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS!

Oh please. The French may drink more per capita than the Brits, but two glasses of wine over dinner every night does not match the drunken potential of 12 pints of Stella consumed in one sitting.

When did South Korea move to Europe?

2013-04-25 06:52:02 AM
Mostly old "Warsaw Pact" countries.

Thanks, Soviet Russia!

Just after shiat started getting real in North Korea.

I live in Poland, and how it did not make the top 25 must be an error.

That was Bratislava.  And it's actually much much nicer than it looked in that film.  Beautiful in fact.  Bucharest was a zillion times worse.  More like what the film depicted.

Luxembourg isn't even a country and they somehow missed Belgium...
And Scotland should have its own entry, they probably bring up the average of the whole UK. A lot.

So, Europe is pretty much perma-pissed? Sweet!

Let's check the racial scorecard:

Whites: 24
Asians: 1

Curious where Wisconsin would rank if we were a country.

I lived on nothing but Guinness for 3 days in Dublin, I hope it helped their average.

Finland should probably be up a few spots if the numbers are based on alcohol bought/consumed in country.

they should have thought of voting a country out of existence before WW2... would have saved allot of time, effort, money, and lives... we could have made them part of France and they would have just surrendered right then.

Luxembourg is a Grand Duchy.

I'm always kind of ashamed with how poorly the US fares in these sorts of things, when compared with civilized countries.

Then I think "we've got Utah and Oklahoma pulling down our average", and it brings me a bit of hope.

so basically every county in Europe...and alsosouth korea?

Being Latvian and German, it's all starting to make sense now..

Aw, crap.  I read that as Latvia being #1, but it's just slide 1.  There goes my excuse.

I bounce between living in Czech Republic and Hungary.  I can confirm that they deserve the rankings.  I also agree with WhiskeyBoy.  Poland is mysteriously absent...

And France is a Republic, and Belgium is a Kingdom, etc. Grand Duchy is just Luxembourg's type of country.

you hit the nail on the head there... there are a lot of people in the bible belt regions that think drinking is a sin. They may still do it, but not on a regular basis...

I hear that Ireland has more drunks per capita than people.

Seems it would have just been easier to say that europe and the eurasian countries were where it's mostly concentrated

I think every list, no matter the topic, should end with "United States (Honorable Mention)" and that picture of drunk spring break chicks.

Too bad Aaron Sorkin didn't weave this into the Newsroom "Not the Greatest Country in The World" scene.

Funny that the picture for Finland depicts a brand of vodka pretty much nobody drinks here.  Finlandia is almost exclusively an export product.  Most Finns go for Koskenkorva.

I can't believe that we Czechs have slipped to number 2! What the hell! I've been doing my bit, but some sod out there is slacking. Now I'm going to have to leave work an hour early to make up the short fall.

/Czechs still number one in beer consumption.

/Whoa.

America can stay low on that list. I don't need to be surrounded by any more drunk southerners.

/as long as I can still drink my snobby craft beer

Based on last night, my local municipal golf course is the drunkest country ever.

2013-04-25 07:50:20 AM
I think if we go by binge drinking, the UK should be much higher on the list.

And UK tourists (esp hen and stag parties) likely raise the scores for Czech Rep and Hungary a fair amount.

/used to live in Hungary, rarely saw a Brit under the age of 50 who wasn't completely plastered

What happened, Canada, did you volunteer to be designated driver again?
