False flag.

2013-04-24 11:01:32 PM

Nina Haagen Dazs: IronTom: It could be terrorism, no?

Or an accident? Possibly negligence? Must every bad thing be terrorism? That word is beginning to lose it's punch.

Oh, there is plenty of corporate negligence and malfeasance to explain this.

2013-04-24 11:02:05 PM

MrEricSir: Wireless Joe: Whatever it is, I credit small government and their refreshing lack of regulation.  We'll probably find out the barges were carrying 1,350 times the natural gas that would normally trigger safety oversight by the US Dept. of Homeland Security.

So when the article says that they were mostly empty, it's all part of the conspiracy?

First reports are rarely correct...

TheGhostofFarkPast: So we have this new flash but what about the mass shooting in IL and 5 people who were killed?

I agree with the above comment about April, what is with this month it is all about horrific events.

I just scanned the last two pages of the submission queue and saw nothing on it - no redlights even.

Might I suggest that if you want to see it on Fark, you should try submitting the link?

Too many bad things all bunched together, is suspicious.

Was the explosion at the fertilizer factory in Texas terrorism?

Reports are coming in that the exploding barges were incredibly close to a school of fish.  Why a city planner would allow objects with such explosive potential near the innocent is incomprehensible.

The explosion occurred near Austal, USA.  They are currently building the Navy's new line of ships, the LCS.

If your industry has the ability to do massive damage to yourself/the surrounding area/civilians, you should be regulated as hard as nuclear power is now.

Uh, the heavy industry in Mobile is already regulated. They have their own industrial zone down by the water, away from schools and nursing homes and everything.

This injured the 3 crew, but it's going to end up being nothing more than a big fireworks show for the locals in terms of damage.

Carnival Triumph, in Mobile's port undergoing repairs, was evacuated, and spectators were asked to move away from the waterfront.

There's your problem.

Goddammit, did Carnival piss off some gypsies or something?

It gets worse when you consider that cursed ship broke it's moorings and went floating around the bay just three weeks ago.

Oh, I'm sorry...the were already under DHS (Coast Guard) oversight by way of being a vessel that transported HAZMAT.
Really, just being a commercial vessel gets you Coast Guard inspections from time to time. One that hauls gas, even more often.

As far as West, TX goes, DHS oversight would have included: Is the fence high enough? Is the facility locked at night? Do they have adequate security in place? Nothing about proper storage and fire prevention in there.

I'll be interested to see what becomes of both investigations though.

Bad actors on the Carnival ship, messing with the ship, causing all those problems at sea, and maybe they snuck off to fark with the handy gas ships?

/don't know if that was one of the damaged Carnival ships
