What the hell is 'facebook marketplace'?

Unless you mean the yard sale groups, in which case I've actually bought a ton of stuff that way. There's no dedicated Craigslist where I live (ie the region is HUGE and sparsely populated) so it's the best way to find stuff without driving a lot just to be disappointed.

It's sad that $850 constitutes "new wealth" in India. Shiat, I'm sure $8 would be enough in most of the country.

Say that reminds me, how'd you get that kid so darn fast? Me and Dot went in to adopt on account a' somethin' went wrong with my semen, and they said we had to wait five years for a healthy white baby. I said, "Healthy white baby? Five years? What else you got?" Said they got two Koreans and a negra born with his heart on the outside. It's a crazy world.

I ordered that one. Sent it back as it was a girl. sure the heart was large but the boobs would never come in right.

There's a Facebook Marketplace? Is it related to those ads that gather around profiles like gnats I swat away?

"Police said the grandfather took the baby while his daughter was sleeping, told her the child had died, and sold the boy to a nurse for $850 (45,000 rupees), Punjab Newsline reports.... The mother complained to police after becoming suspicious of her father's new wealth."

He didn't even share? Hell, I can't pay people to take my monsters for even an hour. If my dad had sold one of 'em - for how much? Do I have to pay taxes on that?
/Now I gotta look up that guy's Fark handle.

So... Gramps sold the kid for $850... and the Hospital employees sold it to a guy for $15,000.  What a markup!

That's why you never buy retail. Always buy direct whenever you can.

Weird shiat like this happening in India doesn't really count. It's just too common, over there.

the are several online sites dedicated to yard sale exploitation. the ones that let people post for free have the most listings. local freebie newspapers classifieds are good stuff also.

Where I live, a lot of people either don't know how to use the internet (or indeed a computer), or can only get it on their phone, so it's unlikely they're on anything less mainstream than C-list or Facebook. It's slim pickings around here.

I'd forgotten all about their marketplace until now. I can't remember exactly when they got rid of it, but I suspect it was before they opened Facebook up to email addresses outside of colleges. It was a spot for people to list items for sale similar to Craigslist. You could search in your network or by location. It made sense when it was students selling and buying from other students on campus.
