Politicians vs. Impersonator
Politician vs. Poster
Actor and Retired Politician vs. Chair

The War on Straw will get out of control, and we'll be lucky to live through it.

After the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) released a brutal ad last week that mocked Sanford's 2009 mistress scandal, the former governor took out a full page ad in Sunday's edition of the Charleston Post & Courier in which he likened himself to a soldier in the Battle of the Alamo and accused Colbert Busch and Pelosi of attempting to "buy this race."

Wait...I thought he was more like King David?

Poor guy.  On top of everything else, he's got multiple personality disorder.

It looks like Mark Sanford is trying to make himself look so ridiculous, Colbert will have to make fun of him, and then he can go cry to the FEC.

Why are Republicans so scared of strong liberal/corporatist women?

It's easier for the entire GOP to focus on fighting against one bogeyman (bogeywoman?) instead of making up unique arguments against each Democrat they are competing with for seats.

Ms. Pelosi controls a sizable war chest. But more importantly, she is an enduring "boogyman" that causes a Pavlovian response in most Republicans.

2013-04-24 02:19:02 PM
Is there some sort of bet among GOP members where the person who does the absolute stupidest thing wins the pot? It sure seems like it.

2013-04-24 02:19:37 PM
The truly disturbing part is the person who saw this stunt and thought "Hoooooooo Doggies! That there Sanford done stuck it to Palassy and them there libs! I'm gonna start cutting my heart pills in half so I have more money to send to his campaign!"

So Sanford's a farking joke but I do find it pretty shiatty that they're only going to have one debate.  I'd really like to see elections go in the direction of less advertisements and speeches and more debates.

Oh yes, the Keystone Pipeline. The one that they've already admitted will send no oil to the United States, will hire no workers from the United States but will require land from homeowners across multiple states and lots of taxpayer payouts just to send oil to... China. If I didn't know better the GOP were communist sympathizers.

A debate is just a speech, they rarley respond to what the other person says and just continue to respond with their talking points.
Now debates with a moderator who will hold their feet to the fire, yeah I would like to see that.
But like a media that actually called people ot on their bullshiat not going to happen.

Probably because the election is in less than two weeks.  And how many debates do you really need?

The GOP primaries had, what 50? debates.  And did you learn a single thing from ANY of them that you didn't already know?

Likely because he's an idiot.  There's also not a lot of time and given his antics I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't attached a lot of retarded demands.

"I'll want to debate you on 3 am Sunday morning during a Chuck Norris film festival that has nothing but NRA members in the audience and I'm allowed to point a gun at you the entire debate."
"No."

Depends on the format, the debaters themselves and the moderator.  Joe Biden wiped the farking floor with Paul Ryan.

He is aware that the defenders of the Alamo lost, right?
Also... is he aware that the people in the Alamo were a bunch of a-holes fighting for their "right" to keep slaves in Mexico even though it was illegal in that country?

I also was suspecting this.

Conservatives think refusing a debate on a sketchy wooden bridge over an active volcano for 2 hours in front of an audience of Washington Times subscribers means you're a pussy and an elitist.

Well, we did learn that Mittens would abandon his somewhat moderate record in order to get the GOP nomination.  That has to be worth something right?  And that Newt Gingrich entered the race to sell more books.

No, I disagreed with your placing blamed solely on the media/moderator.  The Biden/Ryan debate was a great example of how the moderator was irrelevant, the debater himself (Biden) clearly held Ryan's feet to the fire.

So Sanford is pretty much admitting he's farked.

Debates are not where policy is discussed, facts are known, questions are answered, or anything else of relevance. Debates are for appearances. Debates are for whoever feels most able to control the narrative after the fact. The intent is to alter likelihood of voting, not decision on who to vote for. Used to be useful before campaigns were this massive deal of marketing, before politicians were en route to becoming politicians years in advance. Now we know who the person is and the positions stood for before a word is uttered; just for campaigns with the resources to control the narrative.
