I'm surprised CNN hasn't tied guns to terrorism.  They've tied them to every other boogeyman.

8 inches: I'm surprised CNN hasn't tied guns to terrorism.  They've tied them to every other boogeyman.

Well, the bombers actually killed someone with a gun but they didn't box anyone to death, so yeah, I am surprised too.

2013-04-24 02:13:59 PM
Actually I would say that they played out GTA pretty well given the national guard was called out

2013-04-24 02:21:09 PM
Does anyone know CNN that can just ask them to stop.  Just stop being a channel for a while.

2013-04-24 02:22:25 PM
C'mon, all he did was blow up some people.  It's not like he bit off an ear or anything.

cretinbob: Makes as much sense as sayig it's about nationality or religion or......

actually no, since the Boston Globe reports:

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev admitted to authorities Sunday that he and his brother were behind the Boston Marathon bombings, according to a senior law enforcement official.
Tsarnaev made his admissions to FBI agents who interviewed him at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he is being treated for multiple gunshot wounds. He had not yet been given a Miranda warning.
Tsarnaev's attorneys are certain to challenge the legal admissibility of those admissions, and other information he gave them, such as claiming that he and his brothers acted alone, and that his brother was radicalized in an extreme form of Islam in part because he opposed US actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think we might be able to tie boxing with violence...

But if you want violence try Thai boxing.

I'll bet every terrorist in the last 20 years watched CNN at some point.  CNN causes terrorism.

Alright, let's try this one on for size:

CNN leads to terrorism.

Let's make it easy,
People lead to terrorism.
Your mission is simple and The War On People has already begun.

I think CNN is trying to go for the record of how bad a network can embarrass itself in a single month.  How about we call a spade a spade: a psycho was inculcated with some really messed up views and decided to kill innocent people for his own warped views.   We don't need to try to defend it because we're afraid some right wing group will latch onto it.  It doesn't matter who latches on -- it's awful, it deserves absolutely no defense, and the radicalized Islam, parents, friends, family, and especially the people involved deserve absolute condemnation, period.

It is ironic, though, that CNN is pushing the idea that someone who in general took advantage of America and what it provided might have only made the decisions he made because he was mentally damaged.  It undercuts a lot of what CNN is pushes overall.

By the way, does anyone know if John King was ever a boxer?  Maybe this is just an elaborate defense of the last few weeks.

I won't believe it until a champion-caliber boxer becomes so radicalized as to change his name to one with roots in Islam while at the peak of his career. If one does that I think he should be thrown in jail and kicked out of the sport...

But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan's apprentice.

Except that it was about religion and it was not about boxing. So basically the opposite of what you said.

Had they used a gun made out of guns, firing guns, maybe then they'd have made that connection.

What else is CNN supposed to do?  Inform people that America's brutal and imperialistic foreign policies might have had a part in causing terrorism?  How's that supposed to keep the populace docile?

Well, after CNN made the bogus "suspects in custody" announcement and people started gathering at the courthouse, a bomb threat was called in.

Brain damage as a factor in his decision making that was caused by boxing?   Sure, I can believe that.   Get some tissue and do the tests, it could be interesting.    It doesn't excuse anything of course--but it might help understand what transformed this person.

... nor does it explain why his non-boxing younger brother also thought blowing people up was a good idea.
