his organization bought 80 shares worth a total of $2,273.70

Yeah, that's a real influential amount.

PETA nutters are just funny.  It's the ASPCA commercials with Sara McLachlan that make me want to kill myself from grief.

According to the animal rights group, this is "the smallest number of shares necessary to give us the right to attend and speak at annual meetings, and to submit shareholder resolutions asking for policy changes."

Those shareholder meetings are going to be hilarious from now on.

I don't necessarily share PETA's views on anything, but I do appreciate their penchant for absurdist performance art.

that'd kinda be a waste wouldn't it subby? Would be better if they'd bought the spleen or teeth or something.

No caged PETA chicks?  I figured this would be one of those threads.

I see a revision of corporate policy regarding shareholder rights in the near future.

They just make me angry. Not about the animal abuse, but about the blatant and shameless manipulation going on.

If you ever are presented the opportunity to eat a whale steak - pass. It's not that good, especially compared to beef.

If peta serves one purpose its that their young & hot members are sooooo gullible.  Like I cannot understate how easy it is to get them to do anything, anything.

Hey if they only had 100 shares 80 is more than a majority.

Their 0.00027% ownership of Seaworld must really have management quacking in its boots.

And the ad space at the hours they buy is cheap enough to play an entire Sarah McLachlan song.

Does SeaWorld pay dividends? It would be really funny if Peta was profiting off of them (but also not very surprising.)

What the PETA chuckleheads don't realize is zoos and places like Sea World bring the animal world to the people. Nobody's going to care what happens to the whales if there's no emotional connection. People see Shamu do some tricks and remember that when they hear a story about a whale being trapped in the ice. They feel more empathy.

Oil companies want to drill in Alaska. I don't care. Why should I? I'll never see any of that "pristine" land in my lifetime. It's almost like it doesn't really exist. Out of sight, out of mind and all that.

But dolphins getting caught in a fisherman's net? We have to do something. I got to pet and feed a dolphin. I have a better connection/understanding.

I liked mine better: "PETA buys just enough shares of SeaWorld to be a PITA"

PETA kills animals on a very large scale.

These people and their organization are truly disgusting.

Or mine: PETA buys shares of Seaworld so that they can get seated at the shareholders' meeting, hopefully in the splash zone
