I'm royally pissed off about it. Not so much with the transfer..sports is a business, and that was in the contract. Granted, I would have rather seen him go to England or Spain if he had to go, but still. What pissed me off is the announcement itself. MAJOR dick move by Bayern. One day before the most important game BVB has played in 15 years. They did that for two reasons: 1) to f*ck over Dortmund, and 2) to draw attention away from the tax evasion scandal that just broke involving Bayern team president Uli Hoeneß (a case which might even have implications for the Bundestag elections later this year)..

Was it announced by Bayern? The stories I've read have said that Bayern hadn't confirmed it, but Götze's agent announced it and Dortmund's CEO confirmed it. Maybe not the final stroke of the pen, but that it was happening at all:  http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/apr/23/mario-gotze-signs-baye r n-dortmund

I'm willing to bet that Bayern leaked it to Bild. Who else would benefit? Klopp said he knew about the transfer after the Málaga match two weeks ago. So someone was sitting on the news until now. Götze doesn't stand to gain from this. In fact, he's public enemy #1 in Dortmund right now. It was absolutely to FCB's benefit to drop the news at this exact time.

The timing was in poor taste but going to Bayern will have long-term effects.

So will Dortmund players tower over Real like it was last night? It was almost comical when Dante (6 ft 2) was marking Sanchez (5 ft 7), but that was the case in nearly every matchup

I think Dortmund will be fine. Goetze is an unreal talent, but getting a huge chump of change in return and with another CL appearance in the bag for next year, I would think some damn good players out there wouldn't mind heading to Dortmund next year at even a slight discount.

I'm a little surprised Lewandowski is still around. I think he's one of the more replaceable parts on that team yet some sucker out there is willing to overpay for him.

2013-04-24 12:34:27 PM
....and I just saw an article where Man U is supposedly gunning for Lewandowski.

Jesus Christ. United; you have 20,000 forwards/strikers on the roster already and each of them is at least his equal...why the fark are you interested?

Actually, most of the evidence I have seen indicates that it was someone from BVB's camp who leaked the story, or possibly Goetze's agent. There's so far been nothing to link the leak to Bayern.

Wouldn't surprise me if Bayern did though, if anything because of Uli's ruthlessness.

At the end of the day, I think Dortmund will be fine. They're going to make a lot of money this summer, and their stock has risen a lot. Isco is seriously worth looking at, Malaga won't be able to keep him if he wants to leave. Plus you still have Kloppo, and as much as I dislike him he's a genius on the transfer market. Probably scouting Poland as I write this.

So the game is on at 3pm, but FSC doesn't show it til 5pm.   Makes sense.

Word on the street is he will join Goetze at Bayern next season.

This game is being shown LIVE on FX.

It is being shown with a delay at 5 eastern on FSC, for anyone who was confused.

I can't hate Bayern given their willingness to help Dortmund out when the club was trying to collapse a decade ago, but I wish they'd find someone other squad to scavenge from for a while.

If it's a Dortmund/Bayern final... what exactly is to stop Bayern from yoinking him the eve of the final and laughing like gigantic sons of farks? (Relative newcomers, note that Gotze would in that case be sitting out entirely; you can only play for one club in any single cup competition.)

I would think it's something that Dortmund would have been smart enough to avoid. Perhaps the ink is dry, but the actual move from one club to the other is like July 1 or something.

Mourinho is wearing a tactileneck.

It's always odd how they pick these referees. I mean, a Dutch ref should really hate Germans, but then again, he probably also really hates Spaniards. Maybe that's why they picked him.

Well they can't unless it's during a transfer window....

Next year I think, but if they want to make money off the transfer they'll have to sell him this summer.

Dortmund the more dangerous team right now. Hope they win. SUCK IT, FLOPALDO

Well, this is a great way to slow down Dortmund's pace; just constantly fall down and get free kicks as a result.

I like how Klopp wears hoodies in the Bundeslig and suits in the CL.

Ronaldo. Of course

How did Ronaldo strike the ball without falling over as a result?!

Reus dive then a Hummels fark up leads to a tie. INTRIGUE. TENSE MOMENTS ABOUND.
