a member of the state's 400-person House of Representatives,

This is what you need to understand about NH. There are 400 representatives for 1.3 million people. That means, every 3300 people have a representative. This is the third largest Legislature in the English speaking world, behind only the British Parliament and the US Congress. You can be elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives with less than 100 votes.

Also, they have not received a pay raise in over 200 years. Seriously.  They make $100 a year and get to use the toll roads for free.

This means, the level of derp coming out of this august body is unmatched by anything seen in government since Caligula made a horse a senator.

Seriously? Look, you didn't elect the Rent Is Too Damn High guy.

New Hampshire ELECTED the "Send all 'mental defects' to Siberia" guy, the "Get rid of all laws but the Magna Carta" guy.

Those are my two favorites. There are many, many more.

New York -did- elect the groping his interns creep, the throwing hot coffee at her staff biatch on wheels, the councilman who wants to slap white people for his mental health and says Robert Mugabe is his hero, and of course the parade of asshats who steal everything that isn't nailed down, along with the package-tweeting congressman and the governor who liked to leave his socks on while banging hookers.

Be thankful New Hampshire doesn't make one legislator's whargarbl the law of the state.

I've heard of Alex jones about zero times in my life outside of fark threads. Who is this clown and why do you guys pay attention to him?

And re "false flag", you have to be insane squared to think that in Boston. You have to be crazy in the first place to think that Obama would conduct such an operation, but of he did, why would he set up two foreign-born Muslims living in the US to be the fall guys? Isn't that what he's accused of being by the same people nuts enough to claim false flag?

Roughly 40% of all crimes are false flags. Then there's the 25% that are false false flags.

What I'm trying to say is that Obama is the person who keyed your car.

2013-04-24 09:30:11 AM
False flag? Probably not. It is possible, however that this could have been another FBI sting operation which went wrong. The FBI reportedly already knew at least about the older brother. Some person or persons unknown helped to radicalize them both. In most FBI stings, the alleged perpetrator is encouraged to commit the act of terrorism by undercover agents, then supplied with a bogus WMD by the agents to commit the act of terrorism with. They are then apprehended as soon as they commit the act of planting the bogus WMD in furtherance of their crime of terrorism. It's quite possible that this sting operation was still in the "encouragement" stage, with the agents unaware that the brothers needed very little encouragement, and were already prepared to act. Of course, the FBI has to disavow completely any knowledge and/ or involvement in the incident at the "encouragement" stage.

I have to agree with you, and I live in a red state.... nobody I know "talks" about Alex Jones, and I would guess 90% have never even heard of him.  Before CNN gave him a small amount of street cred, I'd put that number at 98%.  I think on Fark we just like to pick on the craziest internet people though.

He has a regular listenership of a few million worldwide. Not huge, in the scheme of things, but more than enough given the dangerous rhetoric he spouts.

Aah, New Hampshire.

A state where a Republican legislator on the losing side of the vote of a bill filed articles of impeachment against all 189 legislators that voted the way he didn't like.

The state where the Speaker of the House - a young guy still finishing law school - had to resign as Speaker when it was found out he did none of the summer legal internships he claimed.

The state where nine members of the legislature showed up at their Ballot Commission hearing screaming that President Obama wasn't a US citizen, then chased the ballot commission out of the room where they practically had to barricade themselves in an office to keep the legislators from attacking them after ruling said legislators were nuts.

Still, the fact that so much derp exists in the citizenry itself is disturbing.

I've made this point a hundred times vis-a-vis gerrymandering, but it applies here too: just because you have to draw your districts a certain way or give every 3,000 people their own representative to get a high level of derp in government doesn't excuse all those people electing the derpy candidates, and it doesn't make your state look particularly sane.

In most normal first-world countries, you'd have to search far and wide to find even a handful of people who would vote for a Bachmann or a Santorum, and those people most likely wouldn't be living so contiguously that you could just draw a circle around them and give them their own district.  It's a sad, sad statement on American culture that it takes only a few tweaks in the electoral system to produce the most batshait insane government since, well, as you said, Caligula.

Sir, I knew Caligula's horse.  Caligula's horse was a close friend of mine.  And this Representative is not Caligula's horse.  He is at most, a single anatomical part of the horse; I'm sure you can guess to which I am referring.
