It was a good movie (with exception to Ben Affleck):

Only reason I liked Armageddon was because it looked like both Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton facepalmed their performances through the whole movie.

Horrible, POS movie.

Some directors would see all the shiat said and written about them and think, "I'll show them, I'm going to try and make a really great movie that will surprise them all." Not Michael Bay.

Armageddon is my most favorite bad movie. I re-watch it at least once a year, and I can quote it.

It's my secret shame.

Michael Bay: all the talent of Rob Liefeld, with all the charm of Todd McFarlane.

Armageddon wasn't terrible, just overbearing. I definitely give it points for having a really good cast and some memorable lines of dialogue.

As I said in yesterday's thread, if there's one movie Michael Bay needs to apologize for, it's Pearl Harbor. That one was offensively bad.

Regardless he shouldn't be allowed to make movies at ALL.

Armageddon was probably his best movie, and overall pretty good in the scheme of things.  Why apologize anyway?

I just watched Armageddon again the other day. It's probably some of his best work.

I'd say The Rock just tips it, but they're both fine, action stuff.

Your "best"! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fark the prom queen.

Armageddon was a fine movie, it might be great if you trimmed at least 25 minutes out of it. It was a popcorn movie that dragged on a little too long.
The Rock and the first Transformers were both awesome action movies.

Forgot about that one, yeah I'd say The Rock edges it out.

Michael Bay doesn't care what any of us think because right now he's kicking the model he farked this morning on the casting couch so he can go back to counting all his money.

Yeah - I mean look how badly it messed up history, what with the complete lack of Nazi's attacking Pearl Harbor in his version.

Actual Story: Everyone including the subby yesterday is so eager to validate their moronic perspective that they twisted the words of the actual interview.  Then Mike got pissed at the guy who was doing his job while everyone else was masturbating.

Wasn't it enough to hear that the precious Christopher Nolan respects the guy?  If you put their action movies side-by-side with the sound off, you'll understand why.  Dude coordinates warzones like nobody else in film history.  Who the fark cares about the script when you're putting a war on for entertainment?

(All I ask is some perspective.  Maybe one day we'll get someone as great with story and actors as Nolan, and as amazing with action as Bay.  In the meantime, they're still watermark creators equally deserving of respect)

Armageddon was great the first time I saw it.

Unfortunately, the first time I saw it was at a Disney event for exhibitors a few months before it opened.  They showed all of Mulan and a 45 minute long cut of pretty much the basics of Armageddon.  It hit most of the plot while skipping over things like the animal cracker scene.  As a 45 minute movie, it worked great (although there were some narrative holes.  It was unclear why Buscemi was suddenly tied up at the end).

The theatrical version?  Jeesh.

I'd gift you TotalFark if you weren't already there, you magnificent bastard.

I like Michael Bay, but I hated Armageddon.  I'm not really predisposed to full-on disaster movies to begin with, but Jesus Titty Sprinkles Christ, that movie laid it on thick.  Pearl Harbor wasn't that great, either, outside of the main attack sequence.

Everything else he's done ranges from acceptable to awesome, in my book, and I'm interested to see what Pain & Gain's like.

Spielberg in his prime (although I believe he's still making good stuff despite his inability to end a movie when it needs to end).

And much as I hate to say this, James Cameron.  Yeah, I didn't like Avatar either, but that doesn't negate Aliens, The Abyss, and the Terminator films.
