Good.

Next up (I hope): Michele Bachmann.  That will be infinitely more satisfying.

I never get these "rules."

Plenty of guys get elected as middle class guys but retire rich. You can't explain that.

There's an Alabama Democrat?

I kinda wish campaign money WAS the candidate's to keep.

Oh sure, at first, it would reward the moral miscreants and mental midgets who just so happen to have an agreeable letter next to their name in a particularly important race, but over time, it might bring real transparency to how campaign money is ultimately spent, and  might give pause to would-be donors, despite their political affiliation.

Hahaha, I almost bought that line of shiat myself. Bring on the indictments, and bring on Shelly Bachmann starring in "Caged Heat XXIV: There's No Way That Will Fit In There".

Agreed. Might even see a few billionaires and millionaires get their fingers burned enough to keep them out of the cookie jar.

"Yeah, I need another 10 million for... uh... votey... related... stuff."

Wait, there are democrats here in 'Bama? I had no idea.
The stupid level is high here, I vote and never look back. I just don't want to know.

2013-04-23 11:21:39 PM
There are many ways to get hold of it. For example you could do what Palin did and have someone write a book for you, then have your campaign buy a boatload of copies at inflated prices.

2013-04-23 11:32:04 PM

Old enough to know better: Alabama Democrat? Yeah right.

Yep - I can't imagine scenario under which Democrats controlled the entire South for decades on end.

2013-04-23 11:35:50 PM
Actually it used to be legal to keep excess campaign money.  I can't remember quite when that changed but it was in the past 20 years.  A number of people retired from Congress with their pot of cash because they wouldn't be able to personally take those funds if they didn't.

I recently heard Birmingham referred to as a reasonably cosmopolitan city surrounded on every side by ignorant, bigoted hicks.  I imagine Birmingham, Mobile, and Montgomery probably each have some Dem state legislators.

That was a long time ago.  So long ago, some of those people forgot they voted that way and claim they didn't.

Hell, here in Oklahoma republicans act like they are exactly the same as the old democrats, it's called rebranding.

balloot: There's an Alabama Democrat?

I know right!
We've sequestered ourselves down in L.A. (Lower Alabama).
The huddled masses on the southern gulf land, Dem and Rep, all getting along splendidly.
Who da farkin thunk it?
I think it's the closeness to the gulf, the fishing, the beer and bikinis. Nobody down here gives a sheyat about yankee drama.
 - thriving gay community, lovable rednecks, shrimpers, lawyers and slumbering artists.
When first offered a job down here, I scoffed at the prospect of a Cali hippie lesbo, fitting in in the deep south.
Well I was WRONG.
Smartest move I EVAR made, coming down hereto paradise.
Nobody gives a sheyat about politics. Live, let live all together.
We're too busy catchin snapper in the Gulf, dancing to live music and eating gulf shrimp every which way.
The music scene down here is open, laid back and chock full of pleasant
 surprises.
Check out my man Grayson Caps. Check him out in the movie - A Love Song for Bobby Long with John Travolta. Too cool for school ya'll.
I've been here going on five years now, lived all over the U.S.
Served.
I am blessed to be here.
So, my fellow libtards, before you cast that razor sharp judgement on the South, think again.
Binary perceptions make for unreliable world views.
Thriving down here, I can say that conservatives and liberals have a lot more in common than meets the eye.
Yet, we pick each other apart in these news vines and fark streams.
We attack each other with zest fueled by the anonymity of the intertubes.
Are we cowards?
But I fudking digress again.

Excerpt from my journal about 5 years go:
The sand is powdered sugar white and velvety squishy. I love it while I look out to the gulf, toes in the Dauphin Island sand. Adventuring out after initial landing into the AB provided long stay hotel.

But,...lol, I digress.

I don't disagree about upholding Second Amendment rights.
However, the devil is of course, in the details.

As a single gal, I kinda like my chosen mode of defense. Every U.S. citizen has that right, short of having an ICBM in their front yard. That would be a bit much, ,,for now.

Seriously, we probably have more politicians in prison than Chicago.

As do I.  I have several rifles, shotguns and a pistol and will get at least two more and a large caliber rifle.  It did kind of open my eyes how quickly one can buy a gun when I purchased my pistol.  Basically in and out in 10 minutes.  I suppose that's the way it should be, but it kind of surprised me.

There's even a law, according to Larry Sabato, that says that a retiring congressman may outright keep his campaign money. So this guy's mistake was playing AA ball.

Well Hell's Belles, sounds pretty much like paradise. I know I'm going to relocate in the relatively near future and I pretty much have the whole US and Manitoba to choose from. If the Manitoba thing falls through, I may just head down your way. I'm sick of the hateful partisan politics that have neighbors at each others' throats. Which might sound a bit odd considering what tab I'm posting in, but there it is.
