Welcome to Farks feature partner BUZZFEED. We'll dig up your moms corpse and take topless pics of her Y incision and include them in a "top 10 halloween costumes you are too pussy to make yourself" list.

I got engaged months ago. We did not get engagement photos. Do people actually pay a photographer for engagement photos? Our wedding invites are just going to have cat pictures on them.

When Mrs. Port1080 and I got married, the engagement photos were part of the package - the goal was for him to have some experience shooting us before the wedding so he knew the best angles, etc.  We had the option of skipping them, but cost was the same either way.  We paid an arm and a leg for the photographer, but he made us look good...yeah there were some doofy shots like these in the first cut, but those never made it to prints...

Wait, your cats aren't getting married? And is a scratching post still an appropriate gift?

Nah.  Part of being in a committed relationship is having someone who will listen to your plan, look you straight in the eye, and say in a loving tone "You do realize that is the most farking reatrded plan int he world, right?  And that the human race is now lessened by you having uttered it." None of these people were told that; they need to be told the person they are planning to marry actually doesn't care for them.  It is a public service

Our wedding photographer did it for free even tho we were a year out. My father-in-law wanted one to put in the paper to show off to his friends. He's an old school kinda guy like that.

I am a photographer and I shoot 3 or 4 engagement sessions a week. About half of the time the guys are really into it, have ideas and bring along multiple changes of clothes. The other half of the time the guys are uncooperative, grumpy and awkward.

I think if you want something your kids can look back on- seeing their parents young and in love, they are a great investment. If you plan to just post a couple photos to facebook or just become childless cat hoarders, then whatever. Save the money for beer.

Just have a cookout and put those disposable cameras on the table. You'll get three or four good photos and some of the rest will be funny. How many freakin' 'engagement photos' do you need?

Fat nerds getting married take the oddest photos, skinny people have better photographers. That is what I learned.

kvinesknows: why the hell do people get engagement photos taken?

Because they think it's something they'll want to remember.  Little do they know in 5 or 10 years they'll be used to start a fire.

No offense, but I don't think you need a forced photo session to provide that kind of look into a couple's lives.  I much prefer amateur candid photos for that.

We got the engagement photos as part of our deal and thought it was kind of a waste of time.  Photographer was great though.

Because they think it's something they'll want to remember.  Little do they know in 5 or 10 years they'll be used to start a fire.

And that fire will be on the front lawn and composed of the spouses books, music, clothing, and semi-priceless collection of Star Wars memorabilia.

We skipped engagement photos too. Hell we didn't even send out wedding invites other than an email telling people where and when and saying show up if you want.

You know the reason they took that photo is because they'd already assumed that position one drunken night.

anyone seen the engagement photo for the home schooled guy and his wife?  that's what we need.

This. I was married once already, and never posted an engagement photo (thank goodness!) or even had one taken. I'm engaged now, and there are no plans to take a picture to announce it. This is just such an old-school idea.

Should I have brought a dowry and approached her father to arrange the marriage, too? Jeez, people. It's 2013. We can dispense with the formal crap and just enjoy each other's company these days.

This. She looks like quite the hottie.

Buzzfeed is basically crap. It didn't take me long to realize why there are no comment threads next to the featured partner links (which are mostly/all Buzzfeed). It's a bit sad to see Drew selling out so horribly but since I've never paid the man I guess it's my fault.

or do I have to do that in bold?

That was the reaction I had when people asked me if I asked her father for permission. My response was "its 2013 and she isn't her father's property. I don't need his permission and even if he said no I would still be marrying this girl, it would just be one less invitation to send"

In the no dumping one... is he pantomiming taking a dump while being dumped? I keep hoping there is some other explanation for his squattage.

I didn't even know engagement photos were a thing.  I hate ritual/tradition/obligation stuff like this though.

The dumping one was pretty good, otherwise meh.
