There's no way. Still can't believe after 3 movies, no one had the balls to slap Lucas upside the head during the first screening of the Vader scene.

That...didn't look awful. Maybe not a cinema event but I'll probably see it.

The original Thor was the worst of all of the Avenger character movies. Ill wait till Rifftrax has their way with it.

I got what Lucas was going for, it was an homage to the original Frankenstein movie but 6 films into your own franchise it's a little ridiculous to be aping other films so clumsily.

Lucas needs his own version of the assistant Robert Downey Jr has. A guy with good common sense that he can't fire who can tell him when an idea is stupid.

Yeah, like Lucas invented that trope. Bet you could find some play by Sophocles with a similar reaction.
(Never mind "KHAAAAN!", "ARTAAAAX", "ESMERALDA!" and similar variations thereof)

Or at the very least tell him to sit down, come up with ideas and let someone else write them.

I thought that IM2 was weaker, in all honesty. Thor was a heckuva lot of fun, and just a bit better written.

MY order, which in no way is definitive: Captain America, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Thor, IM2. That's not to say that any of them were particularly bad, just that there is a spectrum of quality.

This.  Also, Thor's NOOOO! was not nearly as ridiculous as Vader's.

Yeah, no Spidey characters until Sony gives up the license.

So...pretty much no Spidey characters ever.

That looks pretty good.  And I would like to point out that I predicted Loki would be redeemed and help out Thor at some point.  He played just the right kind of villain to be able to do it.

Definitely the weakest of the series (although I didn't think Hulk was up to much either), but the weakest of relatively strong series IMO. If it serves to build the universe, characters whilst not being a total suckfest I'll be happy. Also, Natalie Portman and the chick with the jugs...

I figured it was supposed to be reminiscent of Luke screaming "Nooooo" in the "I am your father" scene of Empire.  Similar to how Lucas liked to have someone lose a hand/arm in each movie.

After watching the Superman trailer, it's going to be hard to make a good trailer for a superhero movie for a little while. I mean, it made this Thor trailer almost look like a syfy movie trailer.

I enjoyed Thor. Some of it was a little dull, but Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba were great. I wasn't super fond of Captain America, but it got better with a second viewing. Needed more Natalie Dormer, though.

I would put Thor ahead of IH, but just barely. Thor is harder to write for because the storyline is more outlandish than that of Cap or Hulk.

But Lady Sif is looking pissed at this mortal stealing Thor's heart. Makes me want to see it even more.

I've collected comics since the late 80s and am a fan of Walt Simonson but for some reason never got into Thor until Chris Hemsworth. Yes I know how this makes me sound.

So, who's that bad guy. It looks like a Skrull.

2013-04-23 09:49:51 AM
I didn't like Incredible Hulk; I thought Norton was miscast.  Mark Ruffalo did more to establish the character in his scenes in The Avengers than both of the Hulk movies combined.

He's a Dark Elf, Malekith the Accursed. I'm guessing accursed is three syllables.

ArkAngel: Thor is harder to write for because the storyline is more outlandish than that of Cap or Hulk.

I think they got two things very right with the Thor movie: Making it rather Shakespearean (heck, Brannagh/Hiddleston/Hopkins...), and keeping the Kirby look -- it's very tempting to go with the usual "Norse Biker Bar" costumes (cf. Vikings).

The trailer makes me a bit afraid that the enemy will be too abstract, with Loki (temporarily) being on the Asgardian side. "The Darkness" might work if their human(oid) figurehead delivers a strong enough performance. Let's see how Eccleston's Malekith will compare to Gary Oldman's Zorg.

So a "Big No" doesn't really scare me, I expect some hamming it up in a Thor movie, it's not like the style lends itself to Mamet-like dialogue.

No, we have Hulk for that.

I'm hoping that this movie is the combo breaker for Chris Eccleston's terrible post-Doctor Who career.

It's a dark elf named Malekith the Accursed.
He looks a bit odd in this set pic, but he's being played by Christopher Eccleston and that's good enough for me.

Mad_Radhu: I'm hoping that this movie is the combo breaker for Chris Eccleston's terrible post-Doctor Who career.

I don't see that he's had a horrible career since then. Lotta British tv. Couple of movies. I liked him in GI Joe, as well as Heroes, even if those were of questionable quality as a whole. I think I saw that he was doing theatre for a while.

By the way...he had a career before NuWho. He stole the show in The Others and 28 Days Later, he was in eXistenZ, which I've never seen...and, again, a whole lotta British tv.

So, yeah, just because you only know him from one thing doesn't mean he's not got a career. Hell's bells, that's why he left Doctor Who in the first place, to HAVE a career. No wonder he doesn't want to go back to do the anniversary special.

It's way too late for that. The damage the prequels have done may be almost irreparable. Anyway, those suggestions are completely irrelevant. Thankfully, the franchise is in the hands of Disney, so there is a new hope.

Is it a Marvel film?

Well then can't have it without a love interest.

I'm as big a fanboy as the best of them, but seriously the 'must have a girlfriend' that is pervading Marvel films is just too much.

Thor hasn't had a chick since what?  The 90's?  And Tony Stark is not dating Pepper Potts.

The worst part about the Vader "NOOOOOOOOOOOooooOOOOOOOooo" is that for decades, when anyone was mocking outrage, that was what people would do.   It was a classic parody.
