Was all set to snark on this and then I read that it's a huge Cirque Du Soleil nightclub. Yeah, that sounds farking awesome.

Hard to believe that Mandalay Bay can afford something like this.  They'll be out of business in no time if they keep up this kind of financial irresponsibility.

The idea is to get you to come and lose your money in the casino. Guaranteed money. Its what Vegas is built on-> Stooges that gamble and can't quit.

But the club - featuring performances by partner Cirque du Soleil - will most likely make a mint this year, starting with a Memorial Day weekend lineup of DJ stars Skrillex, Zedd, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Otto Knows and Baauer.

I have no idea who any of those people are, but cool on the club.

And one guy on Facebook joked: "I purchased a brand new car to drive to the event, who's going to refund the car?!"

Light didn't respond to that guy.

Light's response should've been: "You should make better financial decisions, and coming from a casino that should say a lot."

They're a little too far south on the strip, but Mandalay Bay is still one of my favorite complexes in Vegas.  It's a really nice property.

Mandalay Bay was the very first casino I gambled in at 12:01AM on my 21st birthday. Played craps and won $180. Had no idea how either, but it was fun as hell. Went to the bar, did about 5 shots (all free for me, pretty damn cool). Decided to take my money to the Luxor and lost $250.

Mandalay Bay was badass. Luxor reminded of an alien pyramid, which is appropriate because I felt probed by the time I left.

Cool move, but goes to show the kind of profit margins these places work with.

You have no idea how vegas works, do you?  I spend a couple hundred on my plane tickets, then I blow a couple thousand at the blackjack tables, not to mention the hundreds I spend on food and drinks while I'm there.
Those plane tickets are a drop in the bucket

Not sure if the guy above was being sarcastic in saying that the casino will be "out of business in notime" doing that, but, most casino's in Vegas can do that and more.   I was on the tour for the Luxor years ago, and they said they made up the entire costs of building the casino the first 3 days it was open.

So, yeah, I wouldn't worry about a few plane tickets.

Hey at least it's in a casino thread and not an actual casino!

Yeah, I was being sarcastic (thanks, scottydoesntknow).  And, hey, I happened to go to the Luxor the day they freakin' opened!  How about that?  As crappily as that place is made, I can't believe it took longer than 3 hours to recoup the cost of building it.

/took no money of mine
//didn't gamble a nickel there

Been in Mandalay Bay once, for a convention in the late 90s.  Do they still spray the air with sickening floral allergens?

You mean to tell me that they forsee making more money off the customers on their return trip(s) than the tickets cost them?  Crazy!

Not to mention Vegas casino's all have deals with the major airlines.  They actually subsidize the cost of a lot of flights to make them cheaper than they otherwise would be, just to lure people into the city.

2013-04-23 06:55:55 AM
All Vegas casinos should give back to me all the money I lose there.
I would name-check them constantly.

WIn WIn!

The guy who owns Cirque du Soleil is a multibillionaire who spent tens of millions of dollars to go live on the space station with the Russians so I kind of doubt he's sweating the refund fees for some airline apex fare tickets.

Sounds like an awesome place with great PR. Cirque Du Soleil has given me some amazing entertainment in the past and I'd check out this type of establishment, especially since it seems they actually care about being a good experience for the customers.

Random:  I almost took a job in Las Vegas last year.  I was really excited to live in the middle of so much entertainment, but some random bullshiat happened and I had to stay on the east coast.

This article makes me a sad :(

I'm only familiar with Skrillex.  And that's enough, believe me.

One truism in the world is that the richer you are the more free stuff you get.

Yeah... this wouldn't be happening if little people were buying the tickets.
