You sound really well-informed.

Cuz terrorists always publicly display the word "terrorist" on the belongings.

Be on the lookout in your neighborhood. They wear turbans and they carry cannonball-type bombs with lit fuses.

Ihaveanevilparrot: How do we know he's not the one that convinced his older brother to go through with it?

The more I see about these two, the more I veer toward agreeing with that theory.
I get the sense the younger one is more of a garden-variety sociopath, though.
I think "ideology" is just an excuse for him -- he's a thrill killer/serial killer in the making, and saw his brother's radicalism as an entré into his darkest fantasies.

I also think he might have thought he could get away by killing his brother -- he was able to for a while -- until being nineteen finally caught up with him.

Of the two, though, he seemed more cunning and sinister -- look at the grainy pictures the FBI distributed.
His body language, to me anyway, is more confident and cocky -- he's enjoying this.

Of course, I could be completely wrong about all this.
I ain't no head-shrinker or "body language expert", nor do I play one on TV.

I think he might mean the folks who want to see him actually be tried. Apparently wanting to see justice done and served is "defending" him.
You know, as opposed to defending our legal system, and having faith in our judicial system, and the Constitution. I can see how some folks might equate that with "defending him" as opposed to simply shooting him in the face after several hours of strapping his 'nads to a car battery.
They seem to forget wee things like justice and law when they get scared. It sort of shows their cowardice, but that's not all that surprising.

To take the moral high ground, you must first kill the people who are occupying it to begin with, rape their women, and swing their children by their feet and smash their brains out on lampposts.

American conservatives and Islamic militants are not deliberately cooperating.

Living six miles from his campus and all the other miscellaneous threads of last week that I got tied into, I heartily say THIS.

\the kid mistakenly held at gunpoint by the FBI at the Port Jefferson ferry on Friday? Friend of mine.  You probably didn't hear about that one though
\\Work friends were locked in the Watertown Target all Thursday night because of the initial shootout outside the store
\\\Another friend of mine is a concierge at the Westin Copley, and passed the bombing site about twenty minutes beforehand
\Also, she needed to get Wolf Blitzer an electric blanket last night, guess it was cold out

The one they stripped naked?  If it's that guy he was all over the news for a bit.  Was he pissed?

No, I forget where that one was, actually.  The one I'm talking about happened at the ferry from New London to Port Jefferson IIRC.  He got pinned to the ground by officials with rifles, cuffed, interrogated, and then let go once they figured out he was the wrong guy.  I guess the fact that he's two years older, is from the town over from where the bomber went to school, and just generally doesn't think, act or sound like a disgruntled Muslim from Chechnya wasn't enough of a dead giveaway.

\his father is  pissed too...

In all fairness how would they know he was 2 years older, from the town over and that he didn't think like a disgruntled Muslim?  They are looking for a guy and a guy pops out that apparently fits a general description.  Unless you are saying that at night there is no way this guy could have looked similar to the the suspect. How did they know that he wouldn't pull out a grenade and throw it at them?

If you were a cop wouldn't you think that maybe he could be lying or should they approach all suspects as if they were harmless?

You don't necessarily know if everyone likes you until they have reason to come out and say otherwise. Unless you really piss people off there's no reason for anyone to act like they don't like you to your face, or even mention it to someone else. Most people aren't gonna go "Yeah, the guy was a farking asshole" until after you do something bad that causes it to be socially acceptable for them to say that.
Or you're a delusional prick, and just don't notice/ignore when someone has an issue with you :p

You also probably haven't committed an act that shows malicious and violent intent toward people, but if you have and people are still defending you because you're awesome, well, I'd suggest you're a sociopath too. :D

Guess what, not every, or not even a substantial minority people with a left-of-center political bent think this guy was framed or there was a conspiracy.  These guys are minority weirdos, not a representative sample of "liberals". . .

. . .unless you agree that every "conservative" thought that Tim McVeigh was set up as part of an elaborate plan by Clinton and the New World Order to declare martial law on January 1, 2000. . .or that there are entire divisions of Chinese PLA soldiers sitting in abandoned salt mines beneath Detroit awaiting orders to come to the surface and invade the USA, or that the Titles of Nobility Amendment was ratified in the 1790's but a huge conspiracy of lawyers hides the fact because by using the title "Esquire" to describe themselves as attorneys they forfeit their citizenship, or that by making a carefully worded announcement in a newspaper you become "sovereign" and unaffected by US law and only answer to 18th century English Common Law, or that the IRS is unconstitutional and paying Federal income tax is secretly voluntary, or that by having a gold fringe on a flag it becomes a military flag and any court performed with that present becomes a military courtroom ("conservative" conspiracy/fringe theories with about as much backing as the guys on the left backing Tsarnaev)

Marine1: luxup: Fark boards:

Monday:
I'm not saying he's a Middle Eastern terrorist...but he's a Middle Eastern terrorist.

Tuesday:
The Government is behind it, false flag.

Wednesday:
I'm not saying it's those two kids in track suits at the Marathon...but it's them.  What?  They look Middle Eastern you say?  Had not really noticed, I'm just looking at the evidence.

Thursday:
Not the kids. Well, hey...did you hear the one about the college kid who disappeared about a month ago? (I was actually guilty of this one toward the end of the day)

Thursday Night:
H-O-L-Y CRAP!!!  It's just terrible everything that's happening but I just can't stop listening to the scanner.  This is more riveting than any action movie I have ever seen, EVER!

Friday:
What's taking so long?  Why don't they search where he is instead of where he's not?  How did he get away so long?  He's probably dead.  Scanner?  Not as good as Thursday night but not bad, plus we got him.  Yea!

Saturday:
Martial Law!!!  Government sucks, yeah we got the guy but so what?  They had to ASK permission to enter and search people's houses.  Damn if I'll let some cop in my house to search for a madman on the loose in my city.  If they don't specifically have evidence showing him curled up behind my couch then I ain't letting them in.  If he is here, well then hell, I would take care of it myself.

Sunday:
God's day.  We rest.

Monday:
The Government sucks!  No Miranda!  They took to long!

Jeez, are you people every happy!

Tuesday:

Drawing the conclusion that those two did the bombing from video and photos of the marathon is racial profiling.

Oh yeah, I remember that...guy

part 2, slightly graphic

Is there any doubt he was framed?

yes, a great deal. Insurmountable, even.

B-but there's no blood in the boat!

Study it out.

Jesus. People are stupid. Not enough blood? Evidence too too long to assemble? We need to come up with a humanity test. If you fail we load you onto a rocket and shoot you into the sun.

1) As far as actual culpability goes, Dzhokhar's supporters - like his mother - will say the evidence is ALL fake, ALL made up, an elaborate conspiracy to frame. Considering the mountain of evidence, it's probably not a bad tactic for a defense attorney.

2) However, for those of us without actual access to question the actual investigators, and without personally auditing the crime lab, there is this data point:

• When the fellow in the blue track suit was accused of being the terrorist, he posted "OMG, I'm going to the courthouse right away, you'll see I didn't do anything!" And was duly ruled out as a suspect.

• Dzhokhar on the other hand, got into a gun battle with police when they tried to stop him, and fled the scene where his brother was killed. Instead of turning himself in, in the first place. Additionally, he held the police at bay when they finally cornered him.

Quite a stark difference between in responses between someone who is innocent and someone who is guilty.

"He's farking innocent. If he were 'guilty', it wouldn't take this long to farking prove it, and there would actually be evidence"

ok, but what is your TF handle so we can really get down to discussing this?
