chewielouie: jinjubik: I live in the UAE, and this will severely interfere with my burgeoning tan.

FWIW, I've never had an issue with any of the things I've heard people getting arrested/bothered about.  I've worn bikinis.  The last time I lived here, I held hands with my then-boyfriend in public.  I've sworn in public.  I've been less-than-sober in public, though not often.

Bikini worn in UAE? Really, you don't say. Checks profile . . . whoa, nice marbles. (eyes)

Ye gods!

That's not a plus.  Browsing the internet has trained my brain to automatically filter out images unsafe for my sanity.

(You know you figured out how to do it too.   Those who fail to do so, end up on /b)

Hoboclown: Ow! That was my feelings!: johnny_vegas: Ow! That was my feelings!: I called him out for self-aggrandizing his vacation. I was being a dick. How is that not obvious?

Yeah, fair. Not have a great day.
But, strapping up for a tourist trap mini-hill in the desert just so you can go online and brag about it, is weak sauce. He didn't climb some snow capped desert peak and ski down, he vastly overpaid at some tourist trap so he could go online with the "...look how cool I am I skied in the desert!" braggadocio. Weak and deserving of mockery.

The article is about Dubai, dude posts pictures of what he did in Dubai. Then you started ranting about Colorado for some reason.

I hope your day gets better. Maybe going skiing will help you relax.

Please, the guy starts waving his dick around about his tourist trap vacation and I'm the bad guy for seeing the potential mockery of the situation. And I mentioned CO once, in passing, but whatever.... I WILL likely go skiing for real in the next week and it WILL probably relax me. Thanks for caring.

You are getting angry because a man on the internet skied indoors.

Relax.

No, I'm not angry at all. But there is nothing special about someone self-aggrandizing about silly tourist trap 'accomplishments'. It is a legit target for derision.

I didn't really take it that way. I thought he was just demonstrating how Dubai has supplanted Japan as the weird little Sci fi country where the future is being beta tested.

Maybe, but I doubt I'm the only one who took it as "look at me, look how cool I am cause I went to Disney-Dubai!".

Kinda think you are, several people asked why you might go there, so he posted some pictures of things they have there. Unless he is the subby and wanted this to go green so he could post his vacation pics, then I think he was just stating, they gots stuffs to do there where you don't have to be drink or wear a bikini.

Holy crap, I've been away from Fark for awhile, definitely didn't miss the utterly retarded chest pounding.  Dude went skiing indoors, in a shiatty (shined-up shiat) country in the Middle East.  A lot of people back home think that's kind of neat, I know this because my own family and friends think so, too.  It's hilarious to me that you seem to be taking it as some sort of personal insult, Ow! That was my feelings!.  Congratulations for living in Colorado, sport.

Heh - internet skiing/snowboarding dickwagging! I agree, Colorado has great skiing & snow. I've been skiing for a while now. I grew up and live up here in the Pacific NW, so I have a pretty good ski resort about 45 minutes away, and get a season's pass most every year. Between the gondola, and high speed six packs/four packs, and hardly any lines, it's a pretty nice place to ski. I know there are larger resorts, but I'm happy w/ 3,100 vert and about 3,600 acres (including outbounds backcountry). The conditions have been really good over the past couple years, a few hundred inches of snow each season. Last year, the season started well before Thanksgiving, and I was still boarding on the 3rd of July. I think Colorado's season was a few months shorter, due to lack of snow. My best season was 45 days up on the slopes (gotta get to work sometime).

Last year, there was so much snow that they were digging out a number of the lifts - mid trip - just to keep running:

They weren't the most ferocious sharks around (if you want redonkulous, chummed open-water shark feeding dives in Tahiti are something else), but it is interesting to dive in one of the world's largest tanks, with 15 different species of shark, including Tiger, Black Tip Shark, White Tip Shark, Spotted Bamboo Shark, Coral Cat Shark, Zebra Horned Shark, Wobbegong Shark and Leopard Shark - plus some 260 other species of fish - totaling up as 33,000 fish in one tank.

A draft on the 'how gay' scale:

1. Banging wife while watching sport center
2. Rim job by lovely lady
3. Ball slapping dude during double penetration
4. Smooshing dicks together for a simultaneous BJ from a big mouthed gal
5. Jacking it in front of another dude
6. Gay oral
7. Butzex

There's a simple way to deal with this: Designate a beach area specifically for the people who are so uptight that they can't handle seeing skin at the beach. Problem solved.

I've worn bikinis in Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey and the UAE (only in Dubai, big no-no in Sharjah). I'd most likely not do it again in the UAE because it attracts unnecessary attention at the public beaches. It's not such a big deal at private resorts and hotel pools but you definitely feel out of place when the women next to you are completely covered. It's funny because the tipping point is reached when more women in bikinis cause the women in hijabs to feel uncomfortable.

But hey, I'm sure some of the homes in the pre-Civil War south were lovely, too...

lumiere: phrawgh: What idiots vacation in enemy Muslim countries?

I'm that idiot and I have no regrets. Even if I'm a woman.

Selfish and foolish. Tantamount to a Jew vacationing at the Eagles Next in 1940. Do you like climbing into lions cages as well. They are such pretty kitties!

Please sign a no rescue / no negotiate waiver and leave it with the State Department. You might save some Marine's or diplomat's life. Everything is fine and there's never a problem, until there is. I'm sure you could find other places to go.

It's okay for them to have a harem at their beck and call that they can screw anytime they want, but the average peasant can't see boobies at the beach?

Judge away.  As Mark Twain said, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."
