They picked the wrong episode of "The X-Files."  That would be "Home" that was the creepiest damn thing ever.

I still remember the ending to David the Gnome. It was so damn sad.

Say what you will about his plots, but Steven Moffat sure knows how to make creepy-as-fark monsters. I'm not sure if the Weeping Angels or the Silence are worse, but I think they're worse than the Daleks by a pretty wide margin.

I have no idea how this scene made it past the censors back in the day. But it was a brutality that seemed to never be returned to afterwards. Almost like an exec was sitting at home and did a spit take when he saw that scene and went "What the fark was that!" and then made sure it never happened again.

I've never seen it but from the descriptions I've read here on Fark, I am fairly certain that if I watched the Jurassic Bark episode of Futurama, I would be reduced to a quivering, bawling mess.

No thanks.

I don't even remember that episode of the X-files.

There were plenty of other exploding boils, things hiding in escalators, things hiding under beds, things hiding in toilets, incest, and parasites of all kinds to be traumatized by on that show.

Yes, it did.  I distinctly remember when it aired because my brother hit a deer coming home from a friend's house (he wasn't drinking) and was still upset so he put on the video of the X-Files because I had recorded it for him.  I found him still up early the next morning before I was going to work.  He said he was upset about the accident, came home, watched that, and couldn't sleep a wink.

Ahh, memories. I remember most of these episodes fondly.

Just kidding, I still have nightmares of some.

Holy fark, actually yes, hells damn that was one of the most terrifying moments on TV.

And IIRC, it wasn't in the script originally. Apparently one of the set dressers accidentally trapped himself in the set, but David Lynch thought the image of him crouched at the foot of the bed was creepy so the set dresser became BOB.

I have seen it and just the damn picture at the bottom nearly did that to me.

ruta: I don't even remember that episode of the X-files.

That's one of my favorite episodes. There are definitely others that are more creepy and disturbing (the aforementioned Home, which never fails to be mentioned when the show is discussed) but this one and Drive, guest starring Bryan Cranston, are the two that come to mind as being psychologically tortuous.

Pretty much. And while a later retcon made things happier, it still doesn't blunt the impact of the episode except to the angriest of fanboys.

I hadn't watched it for a while, and then viewed that episode again when the Blu-Ray came out.  I went in thinking there's no way it can be as brutal as I remember.  I probably just think it was so bad because I was pretty young when it first aired. Turns out, yeah, it really was that graphic.  Kind of crazy for a Star Trek episode.

Nope.  The original plan was for an insectoid-like species to invade the Alpha Quadrant.  Once they realized they couldn't handle those sort of effects within their budget and not have them look terrible, they changed the idea into the Borg.

Although I hear the Conspiracy storyline did continue in a few DS9 books.  Turned out the bugs were some sort of renegade Trills.

I was all teary-eyed at the end and Mrs. Isonomia was bawling so hard her shoulders were shaking... probably doesn't help that we have a dog.

I was being sarcastic.

They didn't continue it because it was gross and stupid.  It was Ferengi Redux.

My only problem with the Blu version was that they didn't use a little CGI to smooth out the crawling parasite and make it look like more than a bug puppet on a stick. But the melting of Remmick? That looked great, then and now.

I remember watching "Jurassic Bark" for the first without a clue about what was coming. After, I sat there for a while after with my jaw hanging open going "OMG."

This list is missing the pilot episode for "Friends".  Go back and watch it again, realizing that those 22 minutes would lead to a decade of that poop.

This isn't an old show/kid's show but the episode of Boardwalk Empire from season 2 where the incest plot with the mother was finally fully revealed in horrifying (and way-TMI) detail was pretty troubling to me. Really didn't expect them to show everything like they did.

Also surprised no one has brought up that Candle Cove show... :)
