Give me a break. This whole country is way too hair trigger about being offended. If you want to keep your kids pure, don't have a TV.

For everyone talking about ND being East Bumfark regarding broadcasting:  That's exactly the point.  You work in market 135, then move up to 94, 66, etc.  Unless things have changed (it's been almost two decades since I was in the business) even an anchor at a station like that makes a pittance.  Of course $50k in ND is probably the same as 100K in a larger city, but milk and gas still costs the same no matter which media market you're in.

This. TMZ is reporting he's been canned.

I threw up a little in my mouth.

To be fair, while TMZ's content is often vapid and worthless... they DO indeed source very well, and are rarely wrong.  I don't read TMZ, and celebrity stories bore me... but if TMZ says something is true, it most likely is.

If your debut and curtain call doing the local news in North Dakota is the same broadcast, you might want to consider a different career.

Yes they do. Unfortunately, we're getting fewer and fewer media professionals and more and more college kids looking to get on TV. Station management, still stuck in the dark ages by and large, see this as a two-fold benefit: a) young college kids will pull in a younger demo (which is absolutely not even the case) and b) less experience means we can pay them less. This is especially true in tiny markets. Thus, you get this guy.

I've seen this exact thing happen... where the profanity just seems to come out of nowhere. That's pure lack of experience and nothing else. Even just a few years as a reporter, with a couple of liveshots going sideways, would keep this from happening. There's a good chance he was a producer or an intern at a big market, sent out a tape, and they snapped him up and put him at the anchor desk.

Wellon Dowd: Suddenly, it dawned on A.J. that he was living in North Dakota. North Dakota! He knew he had to do whatever it would take to get out of his contract before the broadcast was over.

I'm seeing this as a Far Side panel.

Looking to sublease a condo in North Dakota. Good location downtown. Close to everything that is actually there. Great floor layout. 11 months and 30 days left on the lease.

They were probably hoping they'd walk into a bar.

Finally tonight, we have to say good bye to a colleague of ours. With his departure, I will be the only minority broadcaster in North Dakota and will be irreplaceable. So, who wants to see my underwear? Send the kiddies to bed and join me back here at 11.

So he went from West Virginia to North Dakota.  Not really moving up in the world, was he?  Where's he going to go next?  Alabama?
