He's clearly having a stroke.

After watching the clip, I'm guessing it was party the profanity, but mostly that he had all the on-air talents of this:

Odd Bird: texdent: jbc: If by "suspended", you mean "fired", then yes, Subby, he was "suspended".

/Stick to credible news sources in the future.

This. TMZ is reporting he's been canned.

I threw up a little in my mouth.

To be fair, while TMZ's content is often vapid and worthless... they DO indeed source very well, and are rarely wrong.  I don't read TMZ, and celebrity stories bore me... but if TMZ says something is true, it most likely is.

Yet, these two people still have jobs...

Of course, that wasn't the first words out of their mouth, either.

If, yes, what do you do?

Yeah, it was a knee-jerk comment.  Which is why I followed it up with this:

Odd Bird: sorry.  They may be credible but you said TMZ, which makes me throw up.

I once told a potential employer to go fark himself in an interview. I grabbed my resume off his desk and told him not to call me, ever. He was just being a dick the whole interview and I didn't need the job at the time so I didn't have anything to lose. Well I grabbed my resume but not the application I had to fill out so he did call me and offer me a job a couple days later but I reminded him that I told him to go fark himself and I meant it. Last I heard his wife left him he went on a downward spiral and lost everything. He ended up as a clerk in a furnature store. There is nothing wrong with being a clerk in a furniture store but for this asshole it was poetic justice.

Finally tonight, we have to say good bye to a colleague of ours. With his departure, I will be the only minority broadcaster in North Dakota and will be irreplaceable. So, who wants to see my underwear? Send the kiddies to bed and join me back here at 11.

Yes but will she love me long time? This is important.

This is his first local town newscast and he looks like an ass. It's funny. And I don't blame them if they want to fire him.

Software.

Some teams let fly in truly incredible ways. We used to have open conversations about bukkake porn, and the girls in the adjoining art department were totally on board. (With the topic, not a bukkake party.)

On the other hand, a woman at my current company apologized to me for her language today, after referring to a customer requirement as "stupid".

Wow.  Heard about this guy and I just don't know what to say.  I'm a radio host with my own talk show based around computers and technology, so I know it can be stressful knowing thousands of folks could be listening to you at any given time, however my friends who are tv personalities and who have worked in radio have said tv is easier to produce but more stressful when you are on the air.

I think it was just nerves. Hopefully the kid bounces back and learns one if the main rules of broadcasting: when you are in the studio, act as if the cameras and mics are hot...at all times.  Only time you cut lose is when you are in the back office area, break room or in the parking lot.

wow, the Asian co-anchor's speech impediment (the king Nikki Payne has) really annoyed the crap out of me.

And, apparently he didn't know it was running just yet, he said them just before the lady started speaking. he was nervous, first day. Give him a break.

I work with software, and there was a guy I was on a team with that swore so often and so casually it was the point nobody even batted an eye at it.  He'd replace entire chunks of sentences with swear words and to him it made perfect sense.

Him, in an entirely helpful tone of voice:  "Oh yeah, you just take that shiat and replace it with the new farking shiat."  That's an actual quote.

For everyone talking about ND being East Bumfark regarding broadcasting:  That's exactly the point.  You work in market 135, then move up to 94, 66, etc.  Unless things have changed (it's been almost two decades since I was in the business) even an anchor at a station like that makes a pittance.  Of course $50k in ND is probably the same as 100K in a larger city, but milk and gas still costs the same no matter which media market you're in.

Prior to the oil boom, yes...  Now things are crazy, and $50k is just above minimum wage.  ND ranks well above the national cost of index rankings.   Median home prices are somewhere around $250k or so.

There probably will never be a second chance for him.  Why would a station manager want to risk that happening a second time?  He failed at the first two words of his anchoring career in a base-level market.

According to what I saw Bismarck is 98% of the average COL overall with cheaper utilities and just over average misc.

It is market 157 which means there's not much lower he could go and they don't pay shiat anyway.  He'll be alright and find another job in a year IMHO because he's a minority (which helps in broadcasting), and he made a splash in his first gig.

Give the guy a break. Probably the most exciting thing to happen in ND this decade. Damn, they replaced Courtney Kabot (who went back to NY) and Joel Porter with an asian and a latino?  Oh the diversity!Joel and Courtney actually had some on air cohesiveness. KFYR also has a black weatherman. He's cool, too..

I moved last July, so I haven't seen the asian gal. Their penchant for hiring newbies with no experience is actually quite painful to watch sometimes. And Monica really needs to do something with her farking hair. I'm sure between her and Cliff Naylor both working at the studio they can afford to treat a little alopecia.

And milk and gas are a lot higher in ND. Milk was close to $5/gal when I left last year and in San Antonio it was $3.25. Gas in ND was $3.69 and in SA it was $3.39. Rent is going crazy there because of the oil fields, and even though the fast food joints are offering $8-$8.50/hr, that isn't enough to pay $700 plus utilities (1BR), plus car/ins/phone/internet/etc. And good luck getting any job that is paying more than $9/hr. Call centers, fast food, and retail is about all there is. I went to work for the state of ND with a Master's Degree in Accountancy, 12 years of government auditing, and was only making $32K. Take home barely paid the expenses for me and 2 kids, let alone have anything left over.

It's 14 degrees F here right now in North Dakota, and more snow is predicted (with high winds) tomorrow Wednesday.

Make the guy the News Weatherman.

"A.J. the Cussing Weatherman" would be appropriate. He could run against the weatherman on the other Bismarck channel, "Too Tall Tom".

Bismarck hasn't caught up with Williston / Minot as far as salaries, but neither have rents and utilities.  McD's, Wal*Mart and all manner of no-skill jobs are all starting at at least $11-15 an hour, most times with a huge bonus if you stay more than six months.  And if you were only making $32k in a state gig then you were getting screwed or are lying.  I interviewed for a state gig last year doing video that had a starting range of $45-65k.   The city of Minot has an entry accounting position open right now that starts at $55k plus govt benifits (pension, cheap medical, etc.).  In addition to oil, there are tons of manufacturing jobs that have moved in to the state, and as with all major employers, they need accountants, marketing, sales, office staff and more.  The idea that it's all just call centers and fast food is a shallow mined joke.  You could probably make a single phone call today and get a good job with great pay anywhere in the state because EVERYBODY is hiring.
