I hope we don't get a visit from Omicron Persei 8 in 1000 years demanding more episodes of Futurama...

Cheron: Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we're nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.

But the stars we could reach were just Zoidberg on the beach

Thanks to that dog, Matt Groening has killed more souls than Hitler killed Jews.  It's just that simple.

I choose to believe that the CC-sponsored episodes were just an alternate reality via the What-If machine.

/what if comedy central brought back Futurama?
//whew, thank god that never happened!

qorkfiend: Cthulhu_is_my_homeboy: In an alternate universe, Futurama didn't make it one whole season, and Firefly is ending with season #7.

Since in neither of these universes am I posting from the captain's suite on my palatial casino-Zeppelin stocked with booze and gorgeous women, I'll take this one. We'll call it Universe A.

You can have your crummy Universe A. I'll be Universe 1.

Or the mongooses. That's a cool team name. The fighting mongooses.

Lord Dimwit: I hate to say it, but it had gone really downhill ever since the move to Comedy Central.

(1) Fry got too smart.
(2) The on-again-off-again Fry/Leela thing was getting old and just seemed too arbitrary
(3) Too much Scruffy. Scruffy was funny because he was essentially an unknown character.
(4) Too much juvenile humor. When they moved to CC they used their newfound freedom to make easy jokes that weren't funny.
(5) Too much focus on secondary characters. Sorry.

As much as I want to say "shut your whore mouth when talking about Futurama!".......(sigh). I have to admit that you're right. Damn you, sir! At least I will always have my Bender tattoo with him holding a cigar and bottle of Makers Mark.

I'm all for it. Finally getting rid of that terrible show. Hopefully now we can get a few more sketch shows starring the same group of people featured in the Comedy Central roasts.

Last Man on Earth: eraser8: I agree with the people who say that Futurama went downhill on its move to CC...but, it was still one of the better things on television.

And, when it was on Fox, it was the only animated show I'd ever watched that actually made me, a grown man, tear up.   More than once.

Oh yeah.  Jurassic Bark was the obvious one, but everyone forgets the ending to Luck of the Fryrish.  The bee one too, until it just got way too weird and trippy.

Given the bee one was a reworking of a Phillip K Dick story, I'd say it wasn't weird and trippy enough.

Marine1: Put it on Netflix.

Yep.  All I do is wait for the seasons to show up on Netflix anyway and they're looking for more exclusive content, seems like it would fit well.

Kome: I'd rather a series be short-lived but excellent than continue to prolong its life while grasping at mediocrity. There's something to be said about leaving the audience wanting more, which the original run of the show definitely did.

More and more, I'm thinking that's the right way to do it. Firefly is the obvious example... but there are other canceled shows in the last decade that I've loved (Standoff, Stargate Universe, Lie To Me, and The Shield off the top of my head). I'll always want more of those, and enjoy re-watching them every year or two.  Other series (House MD is the most obvious; Family Guy, Bones and Nip/Tuck also come to mind) were among my absolute favorites during their peaks, but their later seasons have made me not want to re-watch any episodes.

Supernatural is bouncing between categories... it was horrible for a season and a half, but the latest episodes have been much better.

Someday, when I'm the ruthless emperor of humanity, I'll require all TV series to have "fixed" end points. Every season should wrap itself up well, and the story for the overall series should have a defined ending. Even if the series is the post popular thing on TV, it will not be renewed when that ending is reached. Follow-up specials, movies, and spinoffs will still be viable options.

Doogles4221: It has been my favorite show for over a decade, and everyone of these episodes will be bittersweet.

Same here, I haven't watched all of the most recent episodes to make it to Netflix simply because I like living in a world where there are Futurama episodes I haven't seen yet.

Even though the drop in quality from the first 4 seasons is obvious, the show still managed to pull out a great episode 2 or 3 times a season.

If anyone needs me, I'll be in the angry dome.
