In a perversely ironic twist, Tsarnaev became a naturalized United States citizen last September 11 - the eleventh anniversary of al-Qaeda's mass murder of nearly 3,000 Americans and the very day a swarm of his fellow jihadists carried out the Benghazi massacre in which four Americans, including our ambassador to Libya, were killed.

Tsarnaev was a "jihadist"?

So, will Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Dianne Feinstein go to bat for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev?

I hope so... and they're not "going to bat" for Tsarnaev, they're standing up for your rights as a citizen.  The same rights this douchebag has.

real security emergencies arise, calling for excruciating decisions about the use of force and detention without trial,

There are no excruciating decisions to be made.  He should get Mirandized, detained, booked, appear in court and scheduled for trial just like every other citizen.

I'm not a fan of Sen. Rand Paul, but TFA simply cannot be trusted without some corroboration. Given the National Review tendency to be outraged by Holocaust denunciation, the audacity of having daughters, and other such unbelievably farcical claptrap, I honestly do not trust the NRO to actually tell its readers the facts and proper context of the FBI's investigation about Dhzokhar Tsarnaev. If they said water was wet I'd start taking sand baths. I didn't agree with the political point Rand Paul's filibuster but to characterize him in any way as facilitating DT's actions is beyond stupid. And the NRO has insulted Bill Buckley enough by its ongoing subsequent existence.

It's not that he has, it's not even that he would. But, you just get the feeling when you look at him, you know, that he wants to use it that way. But, that evil tyrant-in-the-making hadn't expected Rand Paul to want media attention rather than go into a 2016 presidential campaign without having accomplished a single thing.

I don't think this guy can tell the difference between the purpose of a military and the purpose of civilian police.

President Obama is committed to a policy of treating terrorism as a crime that, in all circumstances, is fit for ordinary prosecution - meaning, full civilian due-process rights for all arrested terrorists AMERICANS. Indeed, he signed the NDAA under protest, clearly preferring the position of Paul, Lee, Feinstein, et al., that American citizens must never be detained without trial.

And this is leftist indoctrinated evil, how exactly?

This gets even more interesting when I contrast it against the case of that precious little traitor Anwar al Awlaki.

All I heard for months after that was WAAH 0bummer kilt a MERIKAN citizen without due process!! WAAH.

And now this parenthesis-abusing asshat wants to treat an American who committed CRIMES, NOT TERRORISM the exact same way as Al Awlaki (DRONE! DOUBLE TAP!! ULTRA KILL!!) and he expects to get cheered for it?

I guess from now on whenever a hooligan -- who incidentally happens to be a Muslim -- knocks over a mom & pop shop to steal a beer and fifty-nine cents out of the till, it shall now be considered terrorism and never theft merely because the hooligan was a Muslim??

From reading the article, it seems that Americans have some very sacred and inalienable rights, unless they might have broken the law, which means that the decision to remove those rights might be made because those rights could make a conviction more difficult than a shoo-in.  But no need to worry, your rights won't be suspended in order to get a conviction unless you break the law.  So it's okay.

Why limit it to drones.  What about helicopters?  Submarines?

Maybe a biplane?

Better yet, how about if the bomb was THROWN by an embittered old Jewish man after one of the runners stepped on his bunion-riddled foot?

Where do we draw the line, America?  WHERE?

This is Obama's Benghazi.

Actually Mirandizing just guarantees what he says can be used in court against him. They already have a pretty rock solid case against him, they don't have the Mirandize him till they officially charge him, which will be a while. Legally they can do this to anybody if they are trying to get you to rat out your friends and aren't as concerned about prosecuting you they can hold off on Mirandizing you, happens all the time.

Oh yeah.  And we could take bets on how long it would take them to completely lose their shiat.  But, really.  A drone would be the way to go.  You could follow one of them around all day.  When they get in their car and drive, grocery store, weed deal...  They would just go insane.

So much this.

It's not like there is any lack of evidence against him. Do it right, don't screw it up the way we did with the Taliban that left us with a load of people sitting in Guantanamo for the next 50 years with no ability to ever bring them to trial.

I hope 'ol Randy is finding out that you can't please the ignorant paranoids who get their news from pseudo-news sites like NRO. The Boston guy is a "eval turrist" but at the same some they crow about "are rights" getting stripped away.

They're for treating the guy as a enemy combatant. In the same breath they say that citizens should have rights to a fair trial.

It's stupidity on an absolutely breathtaking level.

I don't think it's breathtaking at all. Modern conservatism practically requires you to be a hypocrite and to talk out of both sides of your mouth.

So what I think he's saying is that using drones on American Citizens is OK if they weren't originally born here.
