mikaloyd: Tonight we are all Phoenix Coyotes

Meh, don't really care. Personally I'm a Buffalo Sabre and a Pittsburgh Penguin tonight. Bump the Isles up, gentlemen.

swahnhennessy: Resolute: Good thing the Devils didn't surrender the 29th overall pick last year, eh?  And they obviously won't do it this year, so they better hope they rebound next.

I'd forgotten all about that. Why the hell didn't they give up that pick?

The reason I keep hearing bandied about (from Jeff Marek, at least) is:

'How can you go back to your dressing room and tell your players "Boys, we're gonna win the Cup this year" after giving up the 29th pick?'

/never said it was a good reason...

You were hoping against hope rooting for the Coyotes tonight. I gave up on their playoff chances 3 weeks ago. But I can live with not making it this year with the short season and all.

Marshmallow Jones: Best player defects to Minny, half your coaching staff gone, lose your goalie and top scoring threat for more than 10 games each - and they didn't make the playoffs?  Go figure...

Parise
Best player
this guy...

on the plus side, I'll save some money on playoff tickets this year.

Question: Is the article linked below the dumbest commentary you've ever read about a hockey player in your life or not?

notadamnduck: That pick just walked out on his junior team (where his father is a coach) in the middle of the playoffs:

Oof.

Oof, again.

Also, damn you Phoenix.

Note: With Monday's results, the top 3 seeds in the West are locked in. Anaheim is 5 pts ahead of Vancouver and the Canucks only have 2 games left (4 pts).

Also of note: if any tiebreakers go to head-to-head scenarios, teams that played an odd number of games against each other (so 12 out of a possible 14 opponents) will not count the 1st game in the city that hosted more games. So, for example: If Phoenix and Detroit somehow ended up tied, PHX hosted 2 of the 3 games and the 1st game there would not count in a head-to-head.

Hypothetical question here...what would happen if someone was to walk up and knock the fark out one of those dink touchers in the green man suits at a Nucks game?

I managed to miss this last night.  I'm going to have to get my game face on & get my act together so that I actually hit the threads on the night in question - the playoffs are almost here (woot).  At least my beloved Ducks wrapped up the division title last night, the last (& only other) time they did that they brought The Cup to CA for the first time...well, other than for a visit during the summer.  However unless they shake off this funk that seems to be hanging around them I don't see them getting quite as far this year.  I'm torn, while I'd really love to see them go deep into the playoffs, doing so might make it easier for Teemu to actually hang them up this summer.  An early exit might ignite the fire for one more campaign next year.  As the first part of the season showed he can still play at an elite level let alone a NHL one.  Too bad the short time between games this year just wore him out.

Regardless, playoff hockey is almost upon us again!!!

/are we still going to hang out in N.O. between periods?

Probably be arrested for assault & battery (or the Canadian equivalent), and, if they called them "dink touchers"* in the process, maybe a hate crime.

/* Really!?

fatalvenom: Needless to say, no waves.

/Bruins are screwed
//they don't even need to run into a "hot" Braden Holtby to lose in the first round

Yeah... I'm hopeful, but there's a good chance they'll be one and done this year.

Oh, well... Can't be that sad about it considering they won the cup in 2011. All my life, I've said I just want to see them win the Cup before I was bald, unable to walk and drooling and shiatting on myself again.(I just about 1 year old when they won it in '72) And they did.

Who knows? They could pick it up once the playoffs start and surprise us...

Rest of League: WHY U NO BEAT THE HAWKS?
