He went 0 for 4 in the game, but it's the thought that counts.

Could've been worse. One hard inside pitch and the bat could've exploded.

Have we milked this yet?

"I'll have the whole team sign them, and then I'll auction them off and hopefully raise some funds for where it's needed."

Classy gesture.  Can't find any fault with that.

Put dzhokar and tamerlan tsarnaev's names on the balls too.  Because I'm sure everybody whose name on that bat would love to hit some tsarnaev balls with it.

People keep talking about those who died, but there's a bunch of people who lost limbs (especially that poor legless dude from photo #8) and at least one woman--IIRC, the mom of the kid who died--who suffered severe traumatic brain injuries. I hope they'll all be remembered when it comes time to hand out charity money.

Apparently the Agent is a bloody farking moron. "Have a special bat made up" now watch your star player go 0-4. Yeah you won't be an agent to long there buddy.

So how much did MLB fine him?

The Red Sox's win streak was finally snapped yesterday, losing both games of the doubleheader. Therefore, I support the continued use of these bats.

He didn't want to hurt the bat by hitting anything with it.

Unfortunately, the validity of the game used bats will be questioned.  As a Reds fan, I seriously doubt Gomes ever made contact with a ball...

Reds fan, came here to say the same thing.  He was my wife's favorite player, so I can't bad mouth him around the house...

FFS enough of the tributes already. The best way to remember the dead is to get on with your lives and don't let the terrorists scare the shiat out of you - if they do, they win.

What do you mean "scare the shiat out of you"? I don't think anybody in and around Boston is particularly scared right now.
