He'll be joining me as my co-anchor

Until the next commercial.

Come on! You can't fire him for that. He's doing a heckuva job!

Probably fake. Why would someone decide to record the start of the local evening newscast on their camera phone? Also the expletives are recorded before the reporters appear on the screen (and presumably before the mics go live) so it's likely the voice of the person recording the vid. Surely even a rookie TV reporter from WV wouldn't be that dumb? (But if it is real, he's gonna have to go back home to work in the coal mines... no company (even fast-food or WalMart) would want to risk employing him in a client-facing position.)

Could be it was DVR'd and they used their phone after that.

They weren't good, anyway. Rather stuttery.

His more experienced(?) co-anchor seemed far more nervous, but she at least had the presence of mind to not utter a stream of expletives on the air.

There's an asian person in North Dakota?  When did that happen?

ShawnDoc: There's an asian person in North Dakota?  When did that happen?

It's like the single A rookie league for broadcast news.  She probably found out where North Dakota was by looking for South Dakota on a map.  Most of the old white people watching it probably thought that Van Johnson was the only person to have that first name.

And Reported would know, having seen quite a few news broadcasts in his time. You can tell by the pixels. :)

Apos: His more experienced(?) co-anchor seemed far more nervous, but she at least had the presence of mind to not utter a stream of expletives on the air.

She looks nervous, but I thought it was because she probably saw them on the monitors and heard him cussing.  To me it looked like she knew all of it was being aired and just didn't know how to react.  I'd imagine someone with even five years of experience might get tripped up with something like that.  It's also local news, so professionalism isn't necessarily required.

2013-04-22 06:25:01 AM
Ah, minor market live TV.  There's nothing funnier than poor production values.

2013-04-22 06:35:32 AM
You can tell the guy is nervous as hell. He's still mumbling as the co-anchor starts to speak. It sounds like he starts to say "gay" again, causing her to pause and fumble nervously as well.
Then he does the nose-pick thing with a flick away then onto the desk. Poor guy probably shiat himself a little too.

That could be a news story right there.

Both of them looked like deer caught in the headlights.

I imagine that there might be a bit of yelling in their earpieces. (On my phone I can't tell if they're wearing them, but I assume they are.)

Also: "...I am used to, uh, being from the East Coast." WTF? I know 6-year-olds that are better at introducing themselves. (The only reason I can see for him to be that horrible at introducing himself is that he was trying to talk and listen to the scolding coming from his earpiece.)

I wonder how much $ that will end up costing the station...

My guess: they didn't. They just recorded the evening news, and when they captured this gem, they used their camera-phone to upload the footage to Youtube.

I'd watch Geoffrey Rush as the Doctor.  In fact, I'll watch him in anything as he has a lot of the off-kilter qualities that the actors who've played the Doctor have.  The introduction of Rush's character to George VI in the film is a perfect example.

It does sound like even after Van Tieu starts talking, Clemente is still trying to sound out Tsegaye Kebede's name. He got frustrated at not being able to pronounce it and in a case of horrendous timing, swore out of frustration and nerves.
