Reimer can steal a series for them, but I can't see them going much further.

Does this season even count?

Done in four. Guaranteed.

Idiot.

Don't be mad just because you know it's true.

It's not like they're sneaking in in 8th. Not a guaranteed sweep. Possibly second round. Nobody's saying any more than that and you three are either stupid or bitter or both.

Yeah, until we know who the Leafs are actually playing, it's difficult to make any prognostications at this point. I don't think they'll get swept by any means, and they have done well against the teams in their own conference this year. I will say their lack of playoff experience will probably be the biggest factor, but they definitely have some excellent talent.

I think you're right. I was discussing this at work the other day, it's just a whole other level of intensity that our guys might not be prepared for. I'd be happy with a long first round or at best a second round. They've had a pretty good season and Reimer's playing well. Overall I'm just happy we won't be in 9th again, no playoffs and shiatty picks.

I hope so, they have some contracts running out

This isn't a full season so we did not get to witness the much anticipated Leafs second half collapse that they're known for. So they're getting into the playoffs on a technicality.

They won't be back next year.

sno man: Some memories of Leaf post-seasons past...
Go Leafs!

My fondest Leaf playoff memory.

Glad to see another Canadian team in the playoffs...even if it is the Leafs *spits on ground*. However unlikely it is, I'd live to see the Jets in there as well, curse upon you Rangers!

Does anyone not want to see the Jets win the Southeast? Apart from Caps fans?

/it's still mathematically possible . . . as of this writing

It may well be at the expense of the Sens... They have a pretty rough four games left.

Yeah, the Jets need some help - but I'd still love to see them take the Southeast, especially since the only NHL team they're southeast of is Edmonton.

sno man: Closer yea, but assuming the Leafs don't take the whole Florida trip off, that should be 4 more points, and then on Saturday to rap up the season at home we have the Habs, we have beaten 3 of 4 times so far this year...
Vs. the Islanders with three soft opponent road games, while they are streaking... best you can do is fourth (thanks to the Pens). best we can do is second. Both Montreal and Boston have to pretty seriously cramp up for either of those things to happen. It could happen with Boston, with 5 games left but that also gives them room to lose 2 and not lose any ground to the rest of us, though..

Part of the Islander thing over the last few years has been *ahem* interesting ownership, some unusual management choices, and a festival of bad goaltender choices. Some of that is hard to look past, especially from a distance. They looked pretty good up close and on the ice in Toronto the other night...

All good points. On the Leafs stuff... I hadn't looked at their schedule and perhaps I should have. I still think that 4th place is in play for them, but 2nd isn't realistically. I can't see them slipping any more than 6th. The isles I think could finish realistically anywhere from 5th to 8th, but I think it is most likely that they'll stay in 6th or 7th, possible depending on tiebreakers.

I can see all those things as legitimate concerns, especially from someone who doesn't follow the team closely. The goaltending, however, is really the only one that affected to on ice product terribly. And the goaltending has been awful in the recent past. Nabby has been great this year and is resigned, but at his age it could deteriorate quickly. If the person had brought up those points it would've been easy to ignore him. The reason it bother me so much was that he really didn't make any coherent points except to say that they were doing it "all wrong" and Edmonton was doing it the right way. The only thing resembling a point he had was that New York hadn't surrounded their young players with veterens, which is mostly true, especially the forwards. But the time to do that is now, not 5 years ago. And then he said he couldn't understand at all why the Oilers would bring back Ryan Smyth and that they should've traded all their veterens at the deadline because they weren't helping. Anyways, I'm over it.

xiola: LOL
So much butthurt from the leaf fans. Have fun planning the parade today, you'll be golfing with your team 2 weeks from now while Mtl and Ott are going to the 2nd round

/typical leaf fans know nothing about hockey

1/10

No mention of parade route planning, '67 or the Kessel trade.
