Ah, Fark.  Thanks for reminding me that teenage boys are unsufferable, smelly little balls of hormones and self-adoration.

Well, that's 11 seconds wasted...

Ficks.

And this skill would totally be transferable to machete or tomahawk throwing. Skills which are almost sorta useful, maybe.

"This took a long time."

Thank you for not pretending that this was filmed in one take.

My worthless and impressive skill is that I can write backwards in cursive.

It's only a skill if you can do it again and again and keep getting it right.

I have a magnetic field that prevents attractive women from looking at me. They don't even flick their eyes towards me to decide how I look to them...instead my magnetic field just subtly forces their eyes away from me as I walk past them, so that I never come into their view, not even once....

It's the weirdest thing. But is it a skill?

How do you think skills are developed?

My weird skills...

I can whistle in 5 different ways, producing a wide range of notes.

I can balance on anything strong enough to hold my weight.

I can blow air (or water) through my tear ducts. Or, at least, from around the same place. Not sure, don't have an MRI handy.

2013-04-21 03:05:29 PM
My useless skill is I can fit my fist in my mouth.

It'd probably be more useful if I was gay.

Plus it's always an awkward time explaining how I got the ability.  I was just really bored in elementary school and realized I had no gag reflex.  I didn't realize the implications of that statement until middle school.

Now if only my girlfriend could do the same thing ...

You're the one who clicked the link AND THEN clicked play after you saw the kid, you weren't forced to watch a damn thing.

Reminds me of those videos from 4-5 years ago of the guys bouncing stuff off walls/cars/floors/heads/etc and making astounding catches in shirt pockets/hats/garbage cans/etc.

Yeah it was cool and all but if you have to film it 30 times to get one decent 'take' it isn't much of a skill.

I'm going to have to side with the wolf on this one.  Saying that something isn't much of a skill because it took practice is really farking stupid.

Ok, so if I throw up 50 shots from half court and post the ONE that went in on youtube, I'm talented? Got it.

Just how low do you want the farking bar lowered, anyway? Jesus.

Talent and skill aren't the same thing.  Talent is innate, a skill requires practice.  What is practice?  It's REPETITION, dumbass.  So, again, saying that something isn't much of a skill because it required practice makes you a moron.  Though, I will say that your skill at being a dipshiat is definitely getting better.

I think what JB41 is getting at here is that all we're seeing is a single event in time, without any sort of context. If the dude throwing that water bottle can get it in that locker every time, or at least most of the time, that would be a skill. Unfortunately, we're seeing only a single successful attempt, which means nothing, as in this case 'skill' could be mere luck. I get that practice makes perfect as a general rule, but we're not seeing this in the vid.
