clambam: Weaver95: No more dynasties . No more bushes, no more Clintons, no more Romney, no more kennedys. I don't want to see the same names over and over again and again. We are NOT a monarchy.

"28th Amendment

Theodore and FDR were 5th cousins...

I know. Leave it to some annoying apologist to remind me it's a shoop. It's actually the epitome of his entire Presidency.

Absent a time machine, not much we can do about that. We can do something about avoiding future Presidents Kennedy, Bush, Clinton and Obama. This a democracy goddamit, not an aristocracy. We need to do something before we do start issuing patents of nobility.

Pretty much this.  The two Bushes guaranteed that Jeb would never be elected no matter how much more qualified he is compared to the previous ones.

Actually, Jeb guaranteed that he'd never be elected again by best to deliver Florida's electoral votes into his
brother's column in the 2000 election by any means at his disposal.

Typical right narrative:

A second Clinton for prez = omg political dynasties!
A third Bush for prez = USA!  USA!

I found it somewhat amusing it took the GOP four years to come up with a Romney candidacy as the best they could muster against a marxist authoritarian dictator with no leadership skills. Now, I'm rolling on the floor looking at the next three years will bring.

And have they learned anything?

Nope.

LessO2: If Jeb were to become the Republican nominee, I could see a viable Democratic campaign based solely on the endorsement of Jeb Bush from George W.

Even if the Dems nominated a fish sandwich.

McDonald's fish sandwich or Arby's fish sandwich?

The Lone Gunman: I continue to be absolutely convinced that GWB never actually wanted to be President.

He wanted to SAY he was President in the same way a 6 year old says he wants to be President.  But he didn't want to do the work.  And with the people that surrounded him, he didn't have to.

Everyone has to have a job. President is the best job his resume would net. That's all.

TV's Vinnie: randomjsa: Well, so far Bush did far better than Obama has done even if you buy the liberals cherry picked facts to make things look better than they actually are.

Much like the claims ITT about bush being the worst president ever, this implies both an ignorance of the past and a profoundly unwarranted optimism for the future.

Jeb was always the more competent and intelligent of the two Bush brothers, and add to that his actual Spanish ability and relations with the latino community in Florida and I thought he was a much more imposing threat for the Presidency.  But he's been vehemently denying a presidential run for 16 years now, and I think at some point it's just too late to eat all those denials.

I have to believe his name would be a handicap after W.  "Bush" might as well be "Mudd" for anybody but the  Republican true believers.

Whiskey Pete: Someone once described Bush The Lesser as "incurious". Made me chortle.

It's actually a pretty good adjective for him, and of course the writer was probably slying alluding to "Curious George."

Are you sure there aren't a sea of Clinton by-blows out there that will seriously reduce the candidate pool when they start marrying?

Terry Schiavo alone would keep Jeb out of the whitehouse.

He called out the state police to have a standoff with the county police. wtf.
