No, you're thinking of the Palin children.

This story is about Mercedes, Lexus and Aiden.

Um, Mercedes was a girl's name first.

Aside from IVF, other risk factors for twins include older age and maternal obesity.

Americans are getting fatter and mothers having kids later. Ipso fatso.

Mercedes and Lexus Muzzana came first.

They have an older brother, Hugo, that they will mock mercilessly before eventually throwing off of a bridge.

No twins, HG each time. (No IV fluids this last time around, though. Yay!)  Some of us just have a miserable time.

And if I were a nurse at that hospital, I'd be kicking someone in scheduling.  It's not like these were spontaneous deliveries (most twin births these days aren't). Someone did this on purpose, probably so they could make the news.

An article that makes a claim of statistical improbability should include some actual numbers.  This sad excuse for a journalist ain't never getting out of Montana.

In case anyone was curious, I looked it up.   3% of births in the US are multiples (per about.com) so the chances that any set of three births are all multiple is one in 37,000

2013-04-21 09:43:41 AM
Considering the old wive's tale that twins occur when Dad farts and scatters the load at conception, I'm figuring the cause of this is the influx of Mexican restaurants due to illegal immigration.

It's so nice when the parents recall the conception.

(Yeah, I know the car was named after Karl Benz' daughter)

I'm working OB at the moment, and some of the bullshiat names... Kholee (pronounced Chloe), more -den and -lyn than anyone has a right to see, one Aryan ( figure they were going for St. Arian and missed, though I wanted to slip a 14 and 88 into conversation and see if they reacted), plenty of misspellings that will curse the kid to forever correcting people.

Drives me insane.

The first thing that came to my mind as well

This isn't really that surprising, especially with a c-section. My twins were born Friday (both breech, so a section was ordered) and from the start of incision to completion was only about ten minutes. Now, had they had 6 twins in one hour, that'd be rarer./did not fall victim to the -den names for my two sons!

Why sad? Mine were born caesarian, not because I chose to but because of medical necessity. Most multiples are caesarian because of the inherent risk.

Mercedes was named after a actual person. Lexus would've been named Alexis but was changed due to concerns about the name being a person rather than a car. Aiden is a variation on a Anglicized Irish/Celtic name
