fta While cops baring all does happen, many officers try to avoid being nude and on duty, in part because there is no place to hide a weapon or a recording device.

How sure are you?

"It sounds like a lot of fun, but it's a nasty, tough job," said Charlie Fuller, a retired Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent who now runs the International Association of Undercover Officers.

Right, a police officer getting a handjob from a prostitute and then getting his jollies off a second time by arresting her rather than paying her is nasty, tough job.

Sweeping things under the table with laws that make them illegal opens them up to exploitation by unsavory types. If it was legalized, it could be more easily regulated.

On the upside, it does give the Sun Sentinel a way to spice up its copy with some soft-core porn.

Perhaps, but I think you'll have some slavery organizations out there regardless, and they'll need to be destroyed.

I was in Vegas and a "hooker" propositioned me, I told her I wasn't paying but I have a thing for police women and I'd take her out after her shift.  She just smiled, it was way to obvious.

I once lived above a triad-run prostitution ring. most of the girls seemed happy and cheerful. but one time it was completely not the case. she wore a yellow skirt and was waiting for the pimp to come home and open the door for her. i stood outside smoking and she gave me this look that was just so sad and so wistful that I kick myself to this day for not at least trying to say hello.

I think I heard somewhere that Vegas was one of the few parts of the state where it isn't.  Could be wrong.

Hmm... this is a tough one. On one hand, one DOES generally strip down for legitimate massage. Even massage therapy- if they're working on your glutes or thigh muscles, etc, you'll need to take it all off. On the other hand, the police do kind of seem to be opening themselves up for all kinds of trouble, especially since there's no visual or audio evidence- the suspect could just say he accepted the offer of sexual services whether he did or not, and it would be a game of he said/ she said.

Yeah, it's only legal in the more remote counties, not in Vegas or Reno. I gotta wonder if they bother to enforce it, though. On the Strip, every 1/2 block you've got people shoving escort service flyers in your face. It's not like they're hiding it.

For 30 minutes Shu Yuan Sun worked the muscles of the officer's back, his shoulders and legs, and then told him, "Turn over." And that, said Hallandale Beach Police Sgt. Todd Crevier, is when the crime went down.

Surely I'm not the only one to have spotted this little gem?

^^ this

I disagree with prostitution laws and believe it should be legalized BUT, I hate sex slavery and exploitation of sex industry workers.

Didnt the prohibition era prove this point ?

I doubt it's much trouble. The cop's word is always taken in a he said/she said argument. And, even if there is DNA evidence as a result of alleged sexual services, the state's not going to collect it to benefit the defense and the alleged escort will be held long enough to make sure her lawyers can't have a doctor collect it.

He could be wearing a microphone disguised as a bluetooth ear piece. People seem pretty attached to those things, so I could imagine one naked and getting a massage with one on. Sometimes, I wonder if they were waterproof would people ever take them off.

In Las Vegas County, no.  In other counties surrounding Las Vegas County, yes.

From wiki:
Under Nevada state law, any county with a population under 400,000, as of the last decennial census,[15] is allowed to license brothels if it so chooses.[3] Incorporated towns and cities in counties that allow prostitution may regulate the trade further or prohibit it altogether.
Currently eight out of <a data-cke-saved-href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevada" title="Nevada">Nevada's 16 counties have active brothels (these are all rural counties). As of June/July 2008, 28 legal brothels existed in Nevada.[16][17][18]

I'm sure it only took him a dozen or so times going there to make sure something was happening there."No sarge, no offer again this time, but I just know they will offer it next time. Give me one more chance to go in there. Pretty please?"

Consenting adults having consensual sex isn't immoral, even if money's involved. And participating in a "crime" in order to make an arrest is BS.

I thought Americans were big on Freedom, so how come selling sex is illegal? As long as nobody's being forced to do it then it's their personal choice. Is it... something to do with Jesus?

"From 30 feet away she looked like a lot of class. From 10 feet away she looked like something made up to be seen from 30 feet away."
"She lowered her lashes until they almost cuddled her cheeks and slowly raised them again, like a theatre curtain. I was to get to know that trick. That was supposed to make me roll over on my back with all four paws in the air."

Just recently for a short while indoor prostitution was legal in Rhode Island (for some reason it was a loophole so only outdoor prostitution was a crime). I don't remember hearing that Rhode Island had gone to hell over it. Prostitution needs to be legalized and regulated like it is in many European countries. Then maybe cops could reallocate their resources to better investigate actual human trafficking and other related crimes. Are many Asian massage parlors are really legit?

2013-04-21 10:05:37 AM
While I know sex slavery exists in the world, I don't think it's nearly the problem in this country that people make it out to be.  There is too much to be gained by playing it up.  First you have the anti-prostitution crowd who plays the slavery card to get men to actually give a damn.  Then the cops use it to get money for their operations, justify overtime, and make the bust story better.  And finally you have the Asian women who they pick up, who have two options:  Say they are here by choice and breaking the law (sure to get them deported if not arrested), or claim they were brought here against their will and forced to do the illegal work (chance to get asylum and stay here while they keep raking in the money).

So everyone benefits from the slavery story and the country spends money to prevent two consenting adults from conducting a business transaction.  Meanwhile, in other parts of the world actual enslavement keeps on happening and not much is done about it.
