I hope those two kids don't make the mistake Richard Jewell did and grant interviews thereby making themselves public figures so they can't sue the Post

If there was some kind of fundraiser so that poor 'bag man' kid can sue the Post out of existence, I will give him all my money/NYer, hate the Post

Moroccan track-star kid can look forward to a Murdoch-funded college education at the least. Also he can buy his parents a nice house with the settlement

Hopefully the amount is a lot, lot, more.

Do Massachusetts or NY have Anti-SLAPP statutes?

I wish him and his little gold digging concubine could just go to their mansion, count all the money they make off the fools, and just be quiet.

1) How much profit did News Corporation report to its shareholders last year?
2) That, or 1% of its assets, whichever is greater, should be the damages they should pay.

Bad plutocrat.  No profit.

Peter von Nostrand: I hope those two kids don't make the mistake Richard Jewell did and grant interviews thereby making themselves public figures so they can't sue the Post

Jewell did all those interviews first, then the negative headlines came out, so the legal argument is that he was a public figure. In this case the kids were clearly not public figures at the time of the Post's publication so I don't think that the Public Figure argument would hold any weight in court no matter what they go on to do. There may be other difficulties in suing the Post, of course, but I don't think that one will matter.

Released by the FBI?  From what I can recall, they did not release ANYTHING until the news conference on Friday.  Originally going to do something at 5 PM Thursday, but then postponed it.  All the pictures that were floating around before that point was crowed-sourced, or at most, being passed TO the FBI for further analysis.

Can we have a "Fark.com Worst Public Person of the Year Award"? Maybe even in a few categories (Politics/Journalism/Celebrity/Lifetime Achievement etc.)?

I went to Boston for St. Patty's day a few years ago and one of my buddies got the shiat slapped out of him, so I don't think so. Wait, you're probably talking about something different

Ah.. I couldn't remember the exact sequence from what I'd read but I thought it was the other way around. He did the interviews afterwards is what I was thinking

LOL.  Where I live we have rules against "strategic lawsuit(s) against public participation".  You can't sue someone for libel for exercising their freedom of speech regarding an issue of public interest.  However, this would be a real grey area - it is an issue of public interest, but those guys were not yet public figures.

What did anyone suspect from a man who ran a tabloid that hacked a murdered girl's phone and deleted messages that led her family to think she was still alive?

Remember only Christian prayer can stop Rupert Murdoch. So let the Fark Independents shout to the Devil in the ground(bow your head) and pray for this disgrace of a human(Rupert) be caught doing two guys while a tranny midget videos it for the annual GOP convention gag reel.
Then Rupert has a heart attack causing him to fall against the skyscraper window and it breaks and he falls to the ground with his cute little corset and ball gag on.

Sounds like excessive government regulation. We let the free market decide here in Texas. It usually doesn't work out well for us

Yeah, it was actually doing all the interviews that made him be considered as a suspect. They thought it could be one of those things where someone starts a fire so they can rescue people from it. I think there's a word for it.

Another liberal site going on about how somebody needs to apologize for something related to the reaction on the Marathon bombing?

That's right, keep distracting away from the huge apology liberals owe everyone for their "It must have been a Tea Party member!"

Trying to outscoop the competition the NYPost basically just started printing rumors and lies as facts.

Worst part is he will probably get away with printing those two young men's pics because of the qualifiers used in the article and the fact that the FBI released the pics.

Rupert the Unbearable continues his descent into cartoonish villainy.

2013-04-20 11:06:04 PM
So he doubles down on the lies by claiming the pictures were from the FBI? Sorry you POS but the FBI only released one set of pictures, and they were of the actual suspects. The Post put peoples' lives in danger by casting them as suspects when they were not.

NBC actually did a pretty good job with it. I just stood up for a news network, excuse me I need to take a quick shower.
