the amazing studio effect

2013-04-20 05:39:43 AM
Her voice is so good it's almost like it was tuned automatically somehow.

Just was going to say -- holy fark autotune!

That said, it does sound like this tween does have natural vocal talent.

Wow, I mean, come on, that was auto-tuned more than Rebecca Black.

She might, but, then do something like this instead of way over producing your video...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsvlsuLau5c

So, Subby, are you her mother or father?

Ryleigh? Really?

And when she can sing like this without autotune, get back to me.

After checking the original, I have to say....it sounds the farking same.   Oh and subby, I hope for your sake, you are female and under 17 years old.  If not, you are a homo.  nttawwt.

Meh, sorta want... send her to me in 6 years.

Blech.

As the father of a 12 year old girl I will say, yes, it's over-produced, but it's clear she has some talent.  Her parents or "handlers" should nurture the talent and not the production

It's absolutely adorable that you don't think that video is using corrective software.  Hint: If you can obviously hear the autotune effect, it's either deliberate or being done by someone who doesn't know how to use the software.  Most of the time when pros use it, you don't actually hear the synthesized effect.  See also Cheryl Crow, Katy Perry, Mariah Carrey, Ashlee Simpson, and many, many, many others.

Say what you want, but Carrie can sing. She has powerful projection and chops. Check out the end of this one.

It's well known that people with no chins cannot sing, therefor, they must rely on "auto-tune".

Hopefully she'll grow a chin at some point.

It's funny how people confuse talent with "having a rich mommy and daddy who can afford studio time, professional photography, choreographers, coaching, lots of audio and video post-production, etc.".

Hell, with enough money and technology, you could make me sound like Paul McCartney. Doesn't mean I have any talent or ability whatsoever.

Like a midget hooker, you're selling yourself short. It takes talent to pretend to be talented.

I'm pretty sure there are a million in the Philippines who are half her age with twice her talent...A quick search gives me this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2FHmU0EMNo

Here's a version not in a studio. The vid subby posted sounds cheaply processed by a deaf-mute, but not too badly auto-tuned.

Auto tune nightmare.  I'm going to make a terrible confession now.  I watch X-Factor.  For two years now it has featured 13 year old girls who could out sing most major artists.  And I bet by the time they come out with an album they will have been autotuned to the point that they sound like everyone else.

Second girl doesn't actually get on stage until about 1:40

autotune or not, that was awful.  if that "blows away" carrie underwood's version of the song then i'm grateful i've never heard the original.

I can't judge her singing voice, but she appears to be the offspring of Shelley Long and Shelley Duval.

Also, why does she dance like Lady Penelope?

Earlier today, I was listening to Aerosmith's Janie's Got a Gun and just now I was listening to Carrie Underwood's Blown Away, and I realize both songs are isomorphic and in the congruency set "Girl abused by Father, Father dies" modulo "instrument of death".

Is there a formal term for such congruency sets or a way of noting the membership of a song in such a set? (It might be nice when annotating Rap Genius to mention such memberships.)

Seen this one before, yeah, really good.  The guy is very good, but, the girl could go on AI or Voice right now and basically clean up.

I'm amazed at how many of you have no idea what auto-tune is. What you're hearing is a chorus affect, which has been used by vocalists on recordings for years. Even the Beatles did it. No-one used to notice it but these days it's cool to pretend you know something about the recording industry. Having said that, whoever produced this has made the classic mistake of treating a child singer like an adult. It doesn't work. You have to be as subtle with the production as you do with song choice. As for picking on her physical appearance - give me a break. I always gave Farkers more credit than that.
