Wow. Such a charlie-foxtrot. Way to give in in to terrorism, America. Now everybody is going to copycat this mess, now that they've seen how easy it is to scare us into shutting down our own city.

It's from earlier in the week, but I highly recommend t">this essay by noted security expert Bruce Schneier on how important it is to refuse to be terrorized. Or, as Douglass Adams put it... "Don't Panic".

I don't think are just entering people's homes at will.

So far it's just a request to stay in your home.  There is no mandate.

CNN said if these guys knock on your door and you're not home they have ways of entering

I was wondering this too.  Completely out of my arse, but I'm guessing there's a judge in the command-post or something who is signing off on blanket warrants, or maybe whole batches of them in one warrant, and would be allowed in terrorist-style situations at least.

Exigent circumstances do not require a warrant. A city-wide manhunt qualifies.

vento: serpent_sky: vento: Why in the heck are people in Boston, and in the area in question, out walking around?  And in hoodies and/or with backpacks?

I almost always have a hoodie on, and my normal every day bag is a backpack. A stuffed animal backpack, but still, a backpack. They might just be doing normal things.

And I would hope that today of all days, you would be intelligent enough to stay in the house.  And if you do have to go outside, you would dress as opposite of this guy as possible - meaning no hoodie and no backpack.  There have been a lot of clueless idiots wasting a lot of resources.

A friend of mine was murdered a few years ago. The guy that killed him was an obvious whacko that everyone else in our group thought it wasokay to hang out with... except me, I literally moved away just to get away from this dude. When he killed our friend, everyone was all farking surprised about it. I had to remind them that the guy tore apart a cat, almost shot another friend, and had held a gun that he thought was loaded at our friend's head before and pulled the trigger.

Reminder - 45 Senators just voted to let Dzhokhar Tsarnaev buy weapons at gun shows w/no inconvenient background checks.

LAST TIME, people: Background checks are not permission, they are rejection.  Put another way: a background check would not stop an immigrant with a state-provided ID, but a law-abiding citizen named John Wilkes Booth would be told to wait 7 days while they look into it further.

There's nothing WRONG with a background check, but it's not magic, either.  It's still not enough to stop a first-time buyer with no criminal record who never reported the side-effects of a recent Cymbalta prescription.

According to the website spotcrime.com, Tamerlan was arrested for domestic violence in July 2009 after assaulting his girlfriend.

Okay, presuming it resulted in a conviction, that would probably prevent him from passing a background check. Now how about his brother?

His NINETEEN year old brother?

Age 18 for a long gun in Massachusetts.

Is that what he has?

Per the cops last night, yes. Until they killed a cop and took his gun.

I guess we'll find out where he got it.

FOCUS ON THE REAL ENEMY

i really dont trust grandma, either.  wait, i dont trust anyone in this god damn show.

i think dude is in trouble meeting the parents.  felicity is openly unstable, but every time they do a flashback she is the best candidate because of her self-discipline.  i think the crazy act is a guise to test grandma - this also explains why earlier in the season she was so gung-ho about family and the next episode she kicks phillip out.

however, on the other side, she left the cig, footprints, and shiatload of fingerprints at that warehouse (the camerawork showing this was way over the top), and the only thing i know for sure is that frampton song rocks.

Nope, you need probable cause that is specific to that residence.  If they start violating constitutional rights that blatantly, just to catch one guy, there is A LOT more to worry about now than some rogue bomber.

Also, what happens if this guy is just holed up in a attic somewhere with a few gallons of water and some protein bars?  How long will they keep everything on lockdown for?

Exigent circumstances:
Anexigent circumstanceallows law enforcement to enter a structure without a search warrant... under certain circumstances. It must be a situation where people are in imminent danger, faces imminent destruction, or a suspect will escape.

Additionally, at worst, it would result in them not being able to use any evidence they find against the people in that home. But they probably aren't stopping to bust Joey Bagadonuts and his bag of weed anyway.

Caluth: antiFodder: Regarding the "autopsy" photo... does anyone know what the toothpicks stuck in his chest are for?

Those look like 18 gauge needles that I use at work.  Maybe left in after unsuccessful epinephrine injections?

They are large bore guide catheters.  When one needs to get large amounts of blood or iv fluids, etc... a central line is placed.  First one drives a ginormous needle in with a sheath, then the sheath is removes and an IV line is threaded over a wire.

Those look like they stopped in the middle of trying to get central lines placed in the subconscious.  Probably was called before the process could be completed.
