Somerville is on voluntary lockdown, according to a city call I got about an hour ago.

Ie, you can go out, but they'd prefer you stay in.

Apologies if already posted.

Huh.  Gotta see if my friends have left for work then.  (He's head chef at the Highland Kitchen.)

Will.  Just gave his mrs. the message, she's getting him home soon it sounds like.  (She might still be a weee freaked out, just since she's a concierge at the Westin Copley Plaza and left like a half hour before the bombing.)

so lost power for a bit and then had no cable/internet.  What did I miss?  Any update on the manhunt?  Still in Watertown?  Heard it could last all weekend

I wish people would stop updating with locations of where the police are, or have just been.  In the US for ten years, and ya' don't think he could possibly be a Farker?

Comments like "wow my sister is nextdoor to the house they raided!" is fine, but when you start mentioning cross streets, and/or areas/ parts of town that are "now under lockdown," you have to wonder if the info is being read by the suspect, or perhaps someone in-contact with them.  (or getting relayed  onto FB where it can be seen by others there).

If it's real news, like "holy crap they locked-down a different city" or something, the less target-useful info that get's out, the better.  Kinda like, imagine if your post tips him off and tells him the cops are closer than he thought, and so he decides he can't get away and prepares for a final stand.  Pretty sure no one wants that.

The scanner link keeps saying offline, does anyone have an updated link?

So I just realized something.  I (unfortunately) work for RGIS, the company that does retail inventories, and my friends were in the Watertown Target when shiat started going down last night across the street.  Friend of mine heard the explosion, and they were in lockdown until 4:45 this morning.

Holy shiatballs.

On the scanner it sounds like they're basically still just sweeping streets. Seems pretty calm, considering.

Haven't heard anything else about the old guy with the "device" they took down. And MSNBC was reporting something about having a suspect surrounded, but it doesn't sound like that's actually happening.

Ok, link is working, was trying to load on my phone. Needed a browser with flash as the mobile site lists the feed as offline

There's one in every crowd.

Pretty sure no one wants that.

Pretty sure nobody wants to hear from paranoid security-through-obscurity types that don't think the first/second hand sources (FB, twitter, police scanners, news, etc) are not available to the perp either, but it's not stopping you.

If this scumbag is spending his time trolling fark threads for intel while being pursued by an army and a half of LEOs, he won't be on the run for long.  Unless the BPD officers chasing him are the same ones that that thought an Err lightbrite was a bomb, that is.

Doctor Funkenstein: I love you, Boston Farkers.  You're on lockdown, the police are about to go Terminator on some guy who tried to terrorize your city.  Your reaction: "You gotta get to Gingerbread House in Winchestah!  Those muffins are wicked awesome!"

Terrorists: "I terrorize you!"

Boston: "Fahk you!"

Stay safe and keep on rocking!

This is TRUTH. Well said, Funk.

we've reached available news saturation -- listening to the canadian aunt is not news.

hunkered down with social networking for updates, skype for business meetings and a home cooked lunch -- this is not the end of the world.

but i did just walk around the block all businesses are indeed closed and the streets are empty save one fire engine on Harvard Ave that is getting coffee from a local diner.

Anyone know if the streets to Kendall are still blocked from Somerville?

2013-04-19 04:22:19 PM

Skarekrough: bigpete53: Bf+: .40 cal casing found

Context?

It's less than half a mile from where the Farkers gf is stating the police are holed up and pointing guns at a home.

The whole thing has gone down (except for MIT and the robbery) in the same neighborhood. So that's not really saying much.

So now what?
