FTFA "The car's owner, who was at the residence, told deputies that he had loaned his car to his friend Phillip Joseph Steinberg for a booze run. When Steinberg returned, he remarked that Village Pizza had been robbed by someone matching his description so he removed the vehicle's tag to avoid a case of mistaken identity, deputies said."

The owner of the car, unrelated to the robbery and unaware of it occurring... removes his vehicle tags from the car. In what way did he think this would work? If they got your plate number, they know who you are - regardless of if the plate is still on there. This isn't the Transporter where fake plates were used to begin with, right?

TA is not well written, but I think what happened is Phillip took his buddy's tag off, since the car owner was putting it back on the car.  The folks at the Village Pizza didn't get a plate number, Phillip was found by a motorist following the get away car.  His get away skills are matched by his menacing skills.

I read that as, Steinberg (the robber) removed the plates for the robbery and when he returned the car to the owner told the owner he had done it to avoid mistaken identity. Either way it's poorly written.

This is the way to deal with Kim Big-Un.

Just laugh at him and say no and he will flee away home with his nodong missile between his legs.

Had a friend living in florida, worked the overnight shift at a hotel. Someone tried to rob him with a knife....problem was, the lobby was closed and the attempted robber was on the wrong side of a bullet-proof window to be making threats. He was still trying to intimidate my friend when the cops showed up. Good times.
