vsavatar: CSB time.  Back in the really old days around the time the world wide web was just starting to become popular, my Dad had an AOL account that I used.  AOL was actually half decent back then.  Well anyway, I was a huge fan of the Ultima game series, so chose a couple screen names, including my fark moniker and also Shamino with some number at the end of it.  Well a few months later, My dad got his bill from AOL, and the name on the account showed my dad's first name followed by the word "ultima" and his last name followed by the word "ultimas".  It was kind of funny to me as a teenager, but he was pissed and had me call them to tell them how unprofessional it was and such.  I called and they denied that anyone would ever do such a thing and tried to accuse me of being the one that did it and trying to hide it from my Dad.  I told off the bastard and changed it back myself, only to have it happen again a few months later.  Some people that work at these companies can be really immature.

AOL was never half decent. It was never even halfway half decent. Except when you used AOHell to go onto chat rooms as TOSAdvisor or SteveCase in 1993. Then j00 was 1337.

It is a punishment. A million dollar punishment to the offending company. If it were for actual losses, she'd get nothing.

Look, stop trying to find the white equivalent to every instance of racism. There isn't one. Fortunately for your grandparents, in the history of the world most other races haven't had the opportunity or the desire to oppress and label white people. When it did happen to white people it was at the hands of other people. Stop telling people how stupid they are for getting offended because YOU can't be offended with a racial slur. You all should be thankful, not angry.

You're an Asian and I have to remind you that all Asians are programmed with Kung-fu instincts?

An Asian letting you hit him?  IT's A TRAP!

Makes me think about the one time I got into a fist fight.  Well, really it was a few punches each way, an attempt to grab each other, and it was over. Just me and the other guy looking at each other with a pissed off look.

And far from my innate Kung-fu abilities, I have to say I really punched like a little girl.

I saw this YouTube video once where some English guys were hassling this Asian dude, nothing serious like hate-crime or anything but just friendly dissing, and then the Asian rips off his shirt and is like WAHHHHHHHHH and does a couple ninja poses and kinda leaves the hooligans confused and speechless and then he turned around and ran away as fast as he could, leaving his shirt on the ground. And it was in the treeless UK so you got to watch this guy sprint for like four minutes up a winding dirt road over a hill with a cloud of dust behind him. I was pretty smashed at the time but I remember craCking up and watching that several times. I can't find a link, I have no idea what to search for. I'm drunk. It's okay because I work third shift.

I will say this: we just had a bunch of our weeding photos (804 of them) printed by CVS and they looked outstanding. I mean, our photographer was very, very good, and I'm a not-fulltime-pro-but-still-published photographer so I knew to upload the photos at 4x6 @ 300 and all, but still, I'm discriminating and the prints looked great. We rolled the dice on CVS because they were fast and I had a coupon code (thanks Slickdeals) and we couldn't be happier. We stuffed 4 albums for all the family that helped us pay for the wedding.

mooseyfate: As well they should. Your behavior isn't acceptable, you should be made to understand that. No amount of fake CVS counseling is going to change their attitude since it's based entirely on ignorance, wether it was passed down in the family or picked up from the environment around them. I'm not going to tolerate someone else's blatant racism just because their parents were pieces of shiat and they were too lazy and/or cowardly to educate themselves. I grew up in an incredibly racist town and let me tell you, it's no way to treat another human.

Meh.  A better way to go, IMO, is to understand that people are weak/frail enough without having an added artificial weakness for certain words.  It took a while, but as a younger half-breed I eventually realized that getting "set off" by some of the words other people sometimes said was ridiculous--especially if you take the idea to its logical conclusion.  I'm with you on the idea that racism isn't nice and all, but in the context of a person-to-person interaction isn't it just one of many forms of bad manners?  There is a bottomless well of potential litigants if we're going to start letting people collect million-dollar judgements for being on the receiving end of someone else's rudeness.
