You can't shame a Republican.  They're a lot of psychopaths, and they should be treated as such.

This too.

That was as much fun as a mentally ill person who bought his gun at a gun show killing McConnell's entire family.

2013-04-18 09:07:13 AM
I am sure the Democrats will not remember this the next time the filibuster comes up for reform

/they still won't do anything about it

2013-04-18 09:08:08 AM
So this is what he does on the clock? Shocking.

I admit that was funny, but seriously, that's pretty childish for somebody in his position. Maybe Obama should have posted a picture of John Boehner crying when ACA was passed? Can you imagine what the GOP would have done? They would have went for impeachment. Fox News and Rush would have been crying about it for weeks.

As a gun control nut and extreme left-winger, I really fail to see what's so offensive about this. It's trumpeting a legislative victory that, I assume, his constituents largely support.

2013-04-18 09:08:54 AM
I guess that makes McConnell look good, from the twisted Republican mindset.

Good job, dude. Pretty funny.

YES WE CAN!!!

It's more offensive as a reflection of where both sides of the gun control issue are coming from. Gun control advocates are concerned with safety regarding a nationwide phenomena that's taken numerous lives. Gun control opponents are concerned primarily with "stickin' it to dem libz!"

But we already have some gun control. We just don't get any more which really has shiat to do with Turtle. Anyone could be in his position and this would have failed.

Not so sure why he's so proud.

It would be funny if they weren't patting themsleves ont he back for saying no increase in gun control is acceptable.

They are in effect saying that they are fine with no background checks on a lot of gun sales.

It's a mildly amusing picture meme. It'd be perfect for Fark, or for any schmoe to use on his or her own internet adventures. But for the official page of Mitch McConnell? It's really disrespectful to a long-time colleague with whom he's expected to work professionally. It's a trite message, trivializing a serious topic.

If the images were reversed (i.e., Reid being dismissive of McConnell) and, I dunno, abortion restrictions were the topic, I'd feel the same way.

Still not clear on why the democrats didn't force them to filibuster.

BTW, what's that quest I'm working on in WoW, now that my work night is over?  Collecting 'succulent turtle filets'..

The NRA bought off quite of few of them as well. Look at Arkansas.

I think they openly state that now, it's the new standard to get LaPierre money.

Heh.

Right but they had the majority. Could have pushed them in to taking to the floor with it instead of shrugging and saying the "threat" of filibuster is good enough reason to just walk away.

The filibuster has actually been strengthened to the point that now, there is no way to actually force a person to stand and speak. All they have to do is announce an intent to filibuster, basically.

HotWingConspiracy: Still not clear on why the democrats didn't force them to filibuster.

I believe that there was a deal that, if the bill was allowed to come to a vote, 60 would be needed and wouldn't be called a filibuster. had there been more than the Rs (and a few Ds) couyld have taken to the floor for an old style filibuster.

2013-04-18 09:19:22 AM
Commentators love to say that both sides want to preserve the filibuster so that they can use it when they are out of power, but if the dems are too chickenshiat to use it anyway, what are they saving it for?

I'm perfectly fine with Sen. McConnell showing his contempt for the majority leader as it's shared by both sides' constituents.  Maybe it'd stop if said leader made filibustering Senators talk instead of giving up without a fight he wouldn't be ridiculed heavily on both sides.
Honestly, I hope Sen. McConnell posts this after every time he stymies legislation.  Just change the text box slightly and it will remain true.

Not really, just the current compromise is not compromisy enough towards their desires.

you know it's pretty bad when 92% of the American people ,including 86% of gun owners want these background checks.  The NRA and it's puppets has to lie about the bill to get it voted down. All so criminals can crazy people can buy guns hassle free at gun shows and on the internet.

McConnell is a criminal's best friend.

Mitch McConnell is now in 100 percent full time campaign mode for reelection. The GOP needs to replace him as minority leader with someone who is at least a little capable of governing.

Bauchus , Warner and their ilk are Republicans in Democrats' clothing. Basically double agents. And why they haven't had party support and their committee chairs stripped from them long before now is a mystery to me.

Yes, yes... What a stunning victory you've achieved for the poor persecuted gun manufacturers and their well-heeled lobbyists.

Truly, a man of people and an amazing wit, to boot.

It's more accurate if you replace "gun control" with "sympathy" or "compassion".
