That son of a biatch deserved to be arrested for depleting our finite helium resources and rare earth elements (found in alarm devices). Not to mention the carbon footprint formed when it required the po-po to haul him away in their cop cars.

Kinda cool idea but is is one shot.

Expect helium balloons to be banned from all public meetings in the future.

I'm sure all of the billionaires in attendance were quite moved.

The empty barrels make the loudest noises.

I bet these guys imagine they make a difference.  They, however, are merely the modern-day replacements of the old "Sinners Repent" preachers:

Shrill gasbags. How appropriate.

And this got greenlit because...?

Man, I wonder what all those people thought about fracking in the 1940s when the god damn process was invented.

Fracking is not new.

What is new is how it was combined with breakthroughs in horizontal drilling to be able to get natural gas and trapped liquid hydrocarbons out of the earth.

Almost every well, be it shallow, deep, etc for Natural Gas or Crude drilled after the 1940s has been fracked. That's millions of wells.

2013-04-17 08:42:14 PM
Well that accomplished a lot. Was he expecting anyone there to change their mind?

2013-04-17 09:00:27 PM
It was greenlit because it was farking stupid.

A hired band crashing the meeting would have been much more effective.

Replacing the slides with porn.  Smearing the tables with hot sauce.
Running in and dumping boxes of opossum everywhere.  (real winner, scarred Oppie is a nightmare)

I expected a ballroom full of oil peoples being drowned out by hundreds of balloons things and having to throw things at them to pop them.  This was much less fun.  This was no fun at all.

The only kind of fracking he's interested in is in stirring the loins of some fellow student "activist".  SO BRAVE.

His dipshiat wingman doing the recording tossing out questions like "Why is this man being detained?" probably thinks his "free speech" allows for disorderly conduct.

Yelling out a bunch of f-bombs while the fat assed cop boots you into his car doesn't really help your cause methinks.

2013-04-17 10:22:30 PM
So that's how fracking got banned?

nigeman: So that's how fracking got banned?

Yeah--"one arrest at a time" I think he said.

Not sure if I follow the logic.

Amusing?  maybe.  At least he didn't go with the Hero tag.

I thought the problem in the western USA was that it's tar sand... Shale gas is deep, mountains push shale up and becomes tar sands. Not saying it's better, just that it might be the wrong message and if you're bringing the wrong message you might look like an attention whore.

And the balloons are clever. But hard to get close. I'm thinking a bunch of the little sirens attached to blobs of something sticky, get close and pop them against the ceiling.

I'm all up for the green thing, but the reason you got arrested was most likely trespassing.  I suspect you were asked to leave and you didn't.  Maybe he and the gun nut below should hook up.

Gun nut here; he's not my type.

He's convinced me with his lucid arguments.

The problem with these radical greenies is their unwillingness to allow compromise.  Yes, we all want a clean environment.  We want air we can breath and we don't want oil spills on our beaches.  However, we NEED fuel.  That isn't going to change no matter how much you biatch and moan about it.  Accept that we are going to be going after those fuel deposits and work for REASONABLE environmental laws instead of laws that push businesses to places like China where there are zero environmental laws.  The net result is MORE pollution.  But I guess that's ok because the people suffering are poor asian communists on the other side of the world.

$10 worth of crickets thrown into the room would have been WAY more effective.

panda mcflu: $10 worth of crickets thrown into the room would have been WAY more effective.

And environmentally friendly.

Of course crickets tend to shut up when there's noise so....
