Lord Mayor of Spotteddickington looks like every stereotypical caricature of British royalty all rolled into one.

How can the Queen dress so nicely, and he looks like he walked off the set of Pirates of the Caribbean?

Lord Mayor of London actually an unpaid, elected, ceremonial position; this will probably be the most interesting thing he does all year.  Let him dress up as Mr. Snuffleuppagus for all I care.

That picture reminds me of this one Assassin's Creed 3 review, where it mentions that the British in the game don't look like the 'patrician dorks' that they're often portrayed as.

This is a pretty good example of a 'patrician dork'.

Have him hanged, drawn, and quartered. I want his head on London Bridge by sundown.

It is indeed lamentable that in these effete, decadent times, a gentleman does not know how to carry a sword properly.

Well, Charles went out swinging where James ended his days as a sad hanger on in a backwater French castle....

Not to worry, London's Midnight Mayor would have turned the sword into a feather or a wiffle ball bat before it connected

He's a bit more important than that.  He presides over the "Square Mile", the financial district at the heart of London.  It's an area in while almost no one lives, and the elections there are the only ones in the world (at the moment) where corporations have the right to vote.

Was that a bare sword or was it in a sheath? I assume that even ceremonial swords are kept razor sharp.

Too bad the sword wasn't a bit longer; the monarchy is a dead institution;unfortunately the brits don't know that...yet !

From the pics it looks like the sword was in its scabbard.  She might have gotten a bruise at worst if she was hit.

2013-04-17 05:06:15 PM
Well, it IS a broadsword. It's not like he can use it on a dude.
