No no no no NO!

The show suck though, move Cleveland back to Quahog.

It was cancelled when all the other cartoons got renewed a while back and it didn't.  Takes a lot more lead time to create hand drawn cartoons than live action shows.

Meh. Their Die Hard spoof had me laughing pretty damn hard.

And I don't even smoke weed anymore.

It is my least favorite of the Sunday night FOX shows. They could always replace it with Napoleon Dynamite. That was good...to me anyway.

Good, that show has always sucked.

Guess Seth McFarlane can only suck so much dick to keep his shows on the air.

Is American Dad still kickin' ass?

Yes? All is good then and nothing of value was lost.

Next stop in the ultimate cancellation of Cleveland itself.

2013-04-17 03:58:52 PM
This has been known since at least December when all the other episodes started working on episodes for the next season, and Cleveland didn't, so it was either cancelled, or it was going on an extended hiatus. Good riddance, the show was god awful.

That King of the Hill intro on Family Guy was GREAT.

Eh.  It was a decent show, I watched it, but I won't exactly miss it.  Like others have said, hopefully they'll move the voice actor back to Family Guy.

Family Guy is mediocre. It occasionally recaptures the quality of its pre-cancellation run but mostly it's just uninspired shock/endurance humor.

American Dad episodes range from pretty good to freakin' amazing and it's my 4th favorite animated TV series (behind the Venture Bros, Archer and Bob's Burgers).

I've watched maybe 3 episodes of the Cleveland Show so I really can't comment on it but my impression is that it was terrible.

2013-04-17 05:15:19 PM
Why does Fox hate blah people? Oh yeah, nvm.

2013-04-17 05:18:02 PM
So is Cleveland coming back to Family Guy, and how are they going to kill off the family?  Because you know they aren't coming along.

I don't get the hate on Cleveland. It's not the greatest show but it's still better than a lot of other crap on other channels.

I like Seth's cartoons but three shows in one night is just too much.  Cleveland is definitely the weakest so it should go.  Personally, I like American Dad the best and don't even watch every new episode of Family Guy any more.

"Stanny Slickers 2: The Legend of Ollie's Gold"  is an absolutely brilliant episode.  Great show.  I'll just pile on here that I never found Cleveland particularly funny.

There was an eight episode stretch in the second season that made it better than FG or American Dad.  But then it went to crap again.  It's still better than a going through the motions Family Guy is.

The Die Hard spoof was farking terrible. 2 genuinely funny joke (and one of the two was a joke that had been recycled about a dozen times). A few grins, and a half-hour of missed opportunity  for what should have been a easy 1/2 hour of hilarity.

So happy the show was canceled.

Of course they will bring Cleveland (and probably Cleveland Jr. too) back to Quahog. They were the only two characters on TCS that could occasionally work.

How do you get rid of the rest of the family? Easy. Divorce. They played that marriage with the same irreverence as the other shows without ever establishing a firm foundation of history and commitment between the characters.

This will be the best thing ever if they can bring KOTH back. And, no, Brittney Murphy's death should not keep this from happening. She moved away with Lucky and the baby. Move on.

This was such a huge part of the problem. Who will be missed from that entire cast? Nothing ever worked. Like who's your favorite character on that show that isn't in the main cast? You could have a thousand answers for Family Guy or American Dad. But on the Cleveland Show?

Seconded. ESPECIALLY if someone likes family guy - which, if we're honest, has become one of two scenes: 1) "remember that time when..", or 2) akward pause humor.

You might have been tainted by the first half of season 1. Actually try and watch American Dad now...It is nothing like Family Guy.  It found its style when Stan of Arabia Pt 2 Aired.  It is pure awesomeness.  No cut-away gags, long jokes, and it doesn't try to push the envelope "just because".  It is absurd in a good way.  I barely watch FG anymore but I can't get enough of American Dad.

Hated Bob's Burgers at first. But I started paying more attention to it and it grew on me. The kids are a riot.

And that seen with Cleveland in the bath tub.
Anybody know where that came from?
- Very obscure -

2013-04-17 06:33:30 PM
I think The Cleveland Show is passably entertaining, but I won't mourn its passing. I actually kind of feel the same way about Family Guy and to a lesser extend American Dad. None of them seem that hilarious most of the time anymore, and I honestly don't know if its the show's decline or I've just tired of the schtick.

As for Bob's Burgers, I freaking love that show. Along with Archer, they are my favorite animated series currently. I was hesitant to give BB a chance due to the the animation style, but it has grown on me. It's the kids that make that show, imo.

I knew it would be that one! Love that clip. The Principal is probably my favorite character outside the main group. Barry would be his direct competition. He really shines in the episode where he goes off his meds and becomes a super villain.

"I found this on your front door"
"Ugh, It's a door mat Barry"
"Who's Matt Berry?"

FuryOfFirestorm: tnpir: I'll join in the chorus of those who say Family Guy and American Dad are great, but the Cleveland Show was pretty bad.

Although this episode of Family Guy last week with Peter going "ferral" was absolute shiat.

The dream sequence at the beginning was awesome.

Of course that's only because it had the cast of American Dad in it.

I don't think American Dad and Family Guy are similar at all. Somewhere around season 3, American Dad became brilliant and seemingly no one noticed. It doesn't use cutaways like Family Guy, And when it does a pop culture reference, it actually makes fun of it, unlike Family Guy, which will take a scene and just replace a main character with Peter and do nothing funny with it.

One of my favorite scenes:   Hello desk sandwich

I knew it would be that one! Love that clip. The Principal is probably my favorite character outside the main group. Barry would be his direct competition. He really shines in the episode where he goes off his meds and becomes a super villain.

"I found this on your front door"
"Ugh, It's a door mat Barry"
"Who's Matt Berry?"

Agree with bolded statement completely. Love when Steve is trying to be popular so he smacks down some girl. When Principal Lewis sees, he smashes Steve's face with a coffee pot and leans over him and cackling just says "Yeeeeeeeeeeah."

Too bad, because it's actually the second best Seth show on right now. American Dad is balls to the wall crazy so that's an obvious #1 choice, and Family Guy is seriously coasting right now.

On a separate note, I've been watching it on Netflix recently, and I've noticed that the writers have zero idea what to do with Roberta (the step-daughter). Holt the dwarf gets more storylines than she does.

eh - cleveland show is hit or miss. Once in awhile the episode is great but for the most part (for me) its the show between shows i would rather watch.

American Dad is keen. Usually great. Roger has to be one of the most insane characters ever written. He is delightful. I would agree family guy is coasting... The simpsons isn't what it used to be but its still watchable and fun so i give it a pass...

\So now you know what i think...

Like Burr said, start at Stan of Arabia I (it's a two-parter). It's about halfway through season 1. The first few episodes are kinda weak. I didn't start watching until the end of season 3 because the first few episodes put me off, very stereotypical and boring, but after that it really hits its stride and just keeps going.

I remember watching the 'Ricky Spanish' episode and howling with laughter while a sinking feeling in my gut kept feeling like Werner Herzog had a hand in it all. And then he had that voice over...

American Dad is by far and away the best one out of its contemporaries right now. The episode where they roast Roger is pretty good.

I dunno. It happened to be on when I got home. Episode where the dad tries to get a drunk black friend married so the dad can be a best man, with a side plot of the alien buying magic shorts.

It was not good. Turned it off because it was so bad. I'll give it another shot, but wow, this episode was brutal.

American Dad has been on a roll lately, especially the episodes with Patrick Stewart .

Family Guy was been hit or miss, but more hit than miss lately. The Anne Murray episode was the highlight of the season, especially since I never would have expected Anne Murray to show up on Family Guy.

I used to watch The Cleveland Show sporadically, but I stopped watching after the terrible Die Hard parody.

Bob's Burgers took a while to find it's groove, but it's consistently good, and the kids are the best part of the show, especially Tina. The Goonies-inspired "Taffy Butt" episode made me a fan.

Even on their worst days, none of these shows were close to 1/10th as horrible as Allen Gregory was. How many dicks did Jonah Hill have to suck to get that piece of sh*t made?

I used to love Roger. But it seems recently he's just gone completely insane. All of his recent schemes seem to involve dismembering or gruesomely slaughtering family members. I liked it better when he was just a con artist and not a deranged murderer.

Don't worry. They're hating on other threads from today's news tab that are actually about the Simpsons.

I'm surprised at how many people like American Dad. I've loved the show since it started, and yet I know very few people who watch it. Their loss -- it's one of the funniest shows on TV right now.

Tellingly, most of the people I know who refuse to watch American Dad love Family Guy post-cancellation... which suggests to me that they don't really understand what funny is and that they just follow the herd mentality. (Many of those same folks enjoy shows like Two and a Half Men, so they don't have a lot of credibility with me anyhow.)

2013-04-18 08:01:21 AM
I do like American dad, but I feel it's lost its way somewhat. They seem to have removed Stan from the CIA. They occasionally reference it but he hangs out at home all the time, just like Peter in FG - neither really have jobs. This is fine, but sometimes Stan gets in situations that he should be able to deal with, but the writers 'forget' the fact he highly trained.

I also like the Cleveland show and will be sad if it is cancelled.

jake3988: If it wasn't renewed by about 5 months, it wasn't ever going to be.

The yearly programming cycle is dying. Networks can schedule a new season of a show to start at any time.

Fox will need a fallback show after whatever new animated series they debut this fall bombs. Maybe The Cleveland Show will be that fallback.
