outrage!

I suppose Shipping Out to Boston would be in bad taste.

How about More Than A Feeling?

I would go with The Dirty Glass or Fields Of Athenry

HA!
I'm not sure anybody listens to the verses in that song.

2013-04-17 08:47:36 AM
God, that song is an embarrassment. Having all those other teams' fans hear that terrible song is like having a wicked case of the farts--the only fun part is subjecting your brother to the smell.

I fear that Green Fields of France will be more fitting once this is all said and done.

2013-04-17 08:50:28 AM
Wait, there was a sports stadium in the US that wasn't beating that song to death already?

2013-04-17 08:51:23 AM
"Sweet Caroline" was heard from the crowd at Marlins Park in Miami, where the fan waving an American flag was an image accompanying the voices.

FTFY

Am I the only one sickened by this overly "we shall overcome/we're with youuuuu" nonsense?.

Can they keep it?

I hated Dirty Water when it first came out and my opinion's never changed.

I'm okay with it to the point that people actually doing productive things to help people (helping cover costs and additional incurred expenses for runners and residents; donating blood) and encouraging others to do the same is great. But weird things like the Chicago sports section claiming they're Chicago Red Sox, Chicago Celtics, Chicago Bruins, etc...that's REALLY stretching in order to send condolences. And just like people weren't rooting for the Yankees just because 9/11 happened, no, we're not rooting for any of the Boston teams because this happened.

It becomes another one of those things where people compete to prove how sympathetic they are because it proves they're a better person than you.

Not that the people claiming "yeah, keep talking about how much you care about Boston - meanwhile, Asia just got hit with an earthquake that killed far more people" are any better.

I'd pick Beastie Boys "Paul Revere" and have the entire Red Sox line use wiffle ball bats for the game.

He may have a valid criticism, but his troll-like delivery completely detracts from any point he may be trying to argue.

Should a terrorist attack ever befall the city of Detroit, you'll all be hearing "Don't Stop Believing" at sporting events like it's 2007 all over again.

The Cincinnati Reds played the song in the second inning, and it happened to be Bark at the Park night so there were a few extra best friends helping send the message.

The author should feel bad for writing this line.

THIS

Flooding Facebook with "you messed with the wrong city" and pray for Boston is not only irritating but shows nothing to help aside from dumbasses trying to outdo one another by sharing a stupid picture

As long as it's not in the French-speaking areas.

2013-04-17 10:12:27 AM
Sweet Caroline is easier to sing.

2013-04-17 10:13:51 AM
I read where for Saturday's "Pat's Run" (honoring Pat Tillman), they've already added increased security and my wife read something about the bag drop process being changed (STUPID).  yeah, something really, really awful happened 3,000 miles away, the logical response is to turn a community-based race into a police state.

and i'm sure Sweet Caroline will be played ad nauseum or, right at the start.  which is fine.  i don't hate the song yet.

I don't think I'd phrase it that way, but I definitely don't care for the tone of some of the coverage, which seems to want to tell everyone how to feel at every possible moment.

Personally, I don't need to be told that we're all going to be alright an hour after some maniac sets off two pressure cookers loaded with shrapnel in a crowded area.

And I find gestures like this to be awfully hollow.  There are a number of ways to support Boston that are actually helpful.

yeah, already planning my next blood donation.

yep, you be farked.  ab+ (which i'm not) have it good.  just stick a line in them and they're good.

Please come to Boston for the spring time.
I'm stayin' here with some friends
And they've got lots of room.
We can plant explosives on the sidewalk
By a cafe where I hope to be workin' soon.
Please come to Boston.
She said, "No,
and don't you come home to me"

But the song was inspired by Massachusetts' most famous family. At least so the story goes.

You're aware that none of those songs were terrible or hated before they found out about them and used the ever-loving sh*t out of them. So don't give them more ideas of songs to ruin.
