I thought they'd still be partying from that awesome basketball season

Well, they have to forget about basketball somehow.

I'm not saying it's racism, but now that a white dude's coaching there, they suddenly draw 50,000.

Nice try, we didn't get that for any of the white coaches before that.

Even at Kentucky football trumps basketball

doesn't matter, they'll still lose to a terrible Tennessee team at the end of the season

In other news, some schools apparently compare spring game attendance against each other like it actually means something.

I'm just confused about Kentucky's. There's got to be a better reason than "A Stoops is coaching!" to more than double your attendance. Someone in their marketing/promotions department probably deserves more credit than Stoops.

I think it's just the Stoops element.  In 2005, the Orange and Blue game had a record attendance of 58,500 because it was Meyer's first.

It only means anything to recruits, and at the end of the day they are the only ones that matter.

Here's the deal, as a massive UK fan and someone who was there on Saturday: Stoops is doing what UK football fans have wanted in forever. He has not accepted that basketball is holding the program down. He has not accepted taking 2* players and hoping they turn into Randall Cobb. In under 6 months, UK is the second largest recruiter in Ohio, opened a pipeline in Florida, grabbed the 2 highest ranked recruits in program history and has beat out blue bloods (Florida, Bama, Nebraska, USC, OSU, Notre Dame) for a couple of recruits.

The problem for fans was that under Rich Brooks, we had a semi-respectable program and they turned the keys over to an OC who made a lot of questionable decisions and was as exciting as drying paint.

All in all, it's a mixture of relief in giving someone who appears to be competent a chance at coach and Stoops is a MUCH better recruiter/pr person/ personality for the media in general

Idiots dissing on Big Blue basketball. It's been 1 year since they took the National Championship. They'll represent again next year. Unless you are ALL UCLA fans, they have more rings than you...even if you have more teeth.
