It's an improvement over Calvin peeing on Chevys.

I would snatch one of those up in a heartbeat.

Good god this.  It kind of makes me sad that there is almost an entire generation that is growing up knowing Calvin as the boy who pees on auto logos and other things.

Hobbes is NOT a doll.
He's an action figure.

It's coming, it's coming. Do you have any idea how difficult it is sorting through crap like Yacht House, Post Disco, Complextro, Neo New Wave, Moombahcore, Dubtronica and Witch House?

/assuming those genres actually exist
//hint: they don't
///fark you, Beatport

I'm sorry, but that looks more like the Cheetos Cheetah than Hobbes to me, despite the tufts of fur on the side of the head.  That nose is way too big.

Cheetas have spots, not stripes. Chester also had sunglasses and sneakers on. Do try to keep up.

2013-04-17 06:04:15 AM
Yeah, it sorta resembles Hobbes, but so do most stuffed tigers.

2013-04-17 06:05:33 AM
more like chester the cheetah

2013-04-17 07:22:06 AM
I disagree. It's a tiger, but Hobbes' head is not as wide and he's not as detailed.

Confabulat: It's an improvement over Calvin peeing on Chevys.

Or Calvin kneeling before the cross.

I mean:  as crass as it is, Calvin peeing on various car logos is at least in keeping with his transgressive
character.  Calving praying, OTOH, is about as opposite to his questioning nature in the strips as you can
get, since the last thing he ever has been was obedient.

My first thought: "That's not Hobbes."

And then someone posted a picture of an actual replica that does look like the one in the comics and I was validated.

Incidentally... where does one get that actual replica? Etsy?

And then things get really confusing.

It isn't perfect (adds some features that only Calvin sees), but it is close enough to me. Off to Target...

Had Watson marketed something and made some money off it (even if it was just to donate the profits to charity) he could have protected a lot of it... at this point, because he didn't go after anything, it's basically public domain practically.

My boy just turned one and received one of these.  I immediately named it Hobbes because it's close enough.

And those etsy people are sure out to make a buck. I saw very few that were going for under $40.00. For a stuffed do... erm, action figure.

Named our orange cat Hobbes after my favorite comic growing up, so I'm getting a kick out of all the C+H love.

He did.  The problem is the same as a friend who ran an adult website had.  It's become so cheap to get stuff made (or printed) that the second you slap one 'firm' with a C & D they shut up shop and reopen somewhere else doing the exact same thing, different company name, different suppliers and so on.

The problem isn't getting it made, it's getting the content created to be made... and on the seedier side of things that just means ripping it off of somewhere/one else.

You very quickly start a never ending game of whack-a-mole with these people that you just can't win, so he decided not to waste the money trying after the first few times (kinda the same with my friend).
