So is he going to go around the movie saying things like "Shocking!" and "Gotta bolt!" and "I've got my finger on the pulse of this city!" and crap like that?

I kinda like it. Looks pretty badass to me, and it's much better than whatever they'd have come up with for the old yellow and green costume. But of course, I absolutely  lovedthe Amazing Spider-Man and thought the Raimi Spider-Man was an atrocity. So I bet my opinion means jack shiat to most Spider-man fans.

I also enjoyed Amazing Spider-Man but I also enjoyed Spider-Man 1 and 2. Just thought that Amazing did a better Peter Parker and Spidy. You know, Peter being a genius and Spidy being all sarcastic.

Yeah, they added a few things like the skateboarding but still managed to make him better then the Raimi version of Parker. Sorry but Emo Parker killed that version of Peter Parker no matter how good Spidy 2 was.

They both had problems but the first series has the benefit of being started over 10 years ago when the modern comic book movie trend was just being started so I cut them some slack (except for the last one).

Amazing Spiderman had better casting but then pretty much failed in every other way imaginable.

Not a fan of the "Oh hey guys, it's ok. They're using the Ultimate version of the character," defense.

The version could be bad or good, it may work, it may not, but simply stating that it resembles the Ultimate version is not, in and of itself, a valid point. How about why you think it will work on the big screen.

He wasn't talking about whether it will  work or not. He is referring to the dorks that complain about every little change and don't understand the concept of an adaption. If something comes from the ultimate universe it isn't the studio making crap up.

Wut?

I'm merely heading off the comparisons to the older style of Electro many people might be used to, with the giant star faced yellow/green costume...I'm not making any assumptions as to whether it will be good or bad or work or not work...just that it might be shockingly different to some people who may not be aware of the changes in the character's style for more recent incarnations.

Yes, but it's just adding a middle man to get the dorks to calm down. "Your classic version isn't in the movie. Someone made up some crap but it wasn't the movie studio, so it's ok and your complaint is invalid."  I don't buy it.

Yes, I'm talking about the "Ultimate defense" practice in general. It stared with a black Nick Fury I think. It may be useless to fight the cynics. I'm trying to imagine the average reaction.

"No red underwear for Superman?! LAME!"
"Were you aware that in recent years the current comic incarnation of Superman has no red underwear."
"Who cares! Everything sucks!"

Not a fight you can win.

Ah, but were you aware that recently, magical transmutation experts released a companion version of their popular tome. An ultimate version if you will. As you can see, I have provided you with information. You may now rethink your complaint.

A fight would presume I am trying to win something, versus providing simple context.  I don't really care if they accept it or not.

I dunno, I'm sadly resigned to the fact that we won't get a good Spider-man movie as long as Sony is involved. There's a little more hope for X-Men (at Fox), but not much. Somehow this is all Rob Liefeld's fault.

Please proceed. I say a movie version of a character is valid no matter if it had existed in print before. How does that relate to understanding comics? If such a thing is possible.

I get comic book movies.  They have been around for a long time, and there have been some really good ones made.  But am I the only one that feels we have hit a saturation point?  I'm rolling my eyes every time I see yet another movie with some ridiculous looking "super" people doing crazy shiat.  The studios struck a nerve and now they are just churning out all of the properties to try and milk the nerds who see EVERY SINGLE ONE regardless of quality or story or anything really.  Even the good ones aren't that good anymore.  The Dark Knight is probably the pinnacle and even that movie had a lot of eye-rolling moments.

The latest ones that were supposed to be so good (Avengers comes to mind) were freaking terrible.  Just one action set piece after another.  I can't get myself to care anymore about these fantastical plots to end the world.  It is all getting out of hand imo.
