(WGAL 8)   Remember the glory days of men and women hanging off airplanes, risking life and limb to thrill a few farmers and townsfolk? Me neither, but here's what it was like   (wgal.com) divider line 18

There was a guy that would stand on a biplane wing and then grab the skid of a helicopter flying next to the plane but he plummeted to his death at the Selfridge Air Show a couple years ago.

It pales compared to the fark article one year about a WWII pilot who flew up and smacked a german bomber with a wing because his guns were frozen.

There is still one of these in operation in northern Virginia.  It's called the Flying Circus.  The best part is that after the show, they'll take you up in the planes and do tricks.  You haven't lived until you've done a loop in an open cockpit biplane.

For those of you in the northeast there is this:

http://www.oldrhinebeck.org/

it is HIGHLY recommended.  The (now deceased) founder used to be a neighbor of mine.  We all knew he was dotty because he kept dragging these tattered old wrecks home.  Now The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is a prime source of vintage planes for movie work.  They put on a show on weekends during the summer that is very entertaining.  Even my Korean-born, minimal English speaking family enjoyed.

In regard to the Best Korea AN-2 backwards flying biplane, Cole Palin once held the backwards flying record for distance.
