TechJet was selling dragonfly drones for about $100. They had a handful of them left on Indiegogo. I bought one of the last ones. Then they decided to sell some more...about $900k worth.

Canadian Free Press? I get a distinct "UN black helicopters will release neurotoxin CF409 (aka, the gheyplague) into the skies above Ottawa on the anniversary of Marx's birthday" vibe from that site.

I am guessing that in two years time somebody will be arrested for theft of government property when a small expensive drone has been found on his property when he in fact did not even know it was there because it crashed.

The government will have a hell of a time explaining why you swatted one of their drones in your house without any form of search warrant...

/I'm an optimist, I know there won't be any justification...

Are all these drones GPS dependent for the most part?  I would think that signal jamming counter drone technology is the default defense for most drones except high altitude ones.  Are there laws written about the legality of civilian use drone jammers?  I'm curious what counter-surveillance ideas people have for the new drone era, both for the law abiding and for those citizens with fuzzier legal mindsets.

I love how everyone who hears about the bombing drones blowing up everything in a wedding party in Pakistan by mistake are all like 'oh they're just hiding terrorists, they deserve it' will be the first ones to turn around and scream bloody murder when the US government figures its okay to have spy drones flying about in their backyards. The fun's really going to start when China and Russia use the exact same rules the US has established for their own drones.

Yeah good question, the only time I see them fall in behind each other and "flock" is when it's two of them and one of them is going in for the fark. Having seen butterflies try to fark the fake butterfly decorations in my back yard I think that's probably it.

There are already laws in place about civilians not being allowed to block/jam regulated frequencies (like the frequencies for cell phones, police frequencies, etc.). That is currently being reviewed in order to possibly allow things like blocking cell phone signals in very small, controlled areas like movie theaters or places of worship, but few think that it will change.

Before, I would have happily hit that like the fist of an angry god.

Now...I don't think a tier exists above Angry God to describe how much I'd go for that.  She's clearly making a play for that same hall only a select few have made it to.

/like I'd have a chance with ANY of them

It's from the movie Screamers.

About these drones.  I've always wondered how these insect and small bird sized drones cope outside with even small gusts of wind.  Insects and birds cope because the flight muscles are massively strong for their size and they are incredibly agile.  I doubt the drones can match that.  Wouldn't they just get blown into stuff all the time?
