Let's see if I have this straight.

We need to kill ALL of the muslims because of this bombing.

Here's my take on the likely bombing suspect(s)

FACTS:
Today is Tax Day.
Today is Patriot's Day.
2 bombs fashioned from low-grade (homemade??) explosives are set off in Boston.
Said bombs create a relatively low number of casualties due to the timing of their detonations, indicating a lack of planning or piss-poor planning.

My money is on a white RW male between the ages of 35 & 50, who drank the Tea Party Kool-Aid ("Taxed Enough Already!!!!!11!!!!ELEVENTY!!!") and decided that Boston would make a fine target due to:

1. Site of the Boston Tea Party (Symbolism)
2. Massachusetts (TAXACHUSETTS!!!!) is a blue state.
3. Boston is an exceedingly blue city. (LIBS LIBS LIBS LIBS LIBS!!!!!!)
4. Marathons are typically won by Kenyans or (more recently) northern Africans from predominantly Muslim nations (Take THAT Fartbongo, you Muslim Kenyan Usurper!!)
5. It's Patriot's Day (and what could be more patriotic than rocket's red glare and bombs bursting alongside a marathon course?)
6. "The highest form of patriotic is descent" (And he decided to show his "descent" by blowing shiat up)
Crazy Bomb Guy would have preferred using a rifle, but going up on one of the rooftops with an AR-15 would likely have resulted in him getting his own ass shot and/or arrested, and there is NO WAY a "patriot" like Crazy Bomb Guy is gonna do time in a gubmint prison. (Typical RW lack of willingness to put his own skin in the game)
7. CBG (Crazy Bomb Guy) thought, "I got me all them survival manuals and how-to type books on making stuff go 'boom.' If'n I can't use me a gun, I might as well try making a bomb or two."

I could be wrong, but the crazy all lines up a little too neatly for this to have been done by anyone other than a poorly-educated white dude with a RW axe to grind who listened a little too closely to douchebags Grover Norquist and Dick Armey, as well as nuts like Sharron "Second Amendment Solutions" Angle, not to mention the voices in his head that were screaming "Don't be a pussy - Be a HERO!!!.

When the mass shooting in Norway happened, the rightwing was calling for invading Muslims and killing them all.

Then 2 hours after the first report came, the details of it being a white rightwing christian who loved the teaparty doctrine.

They shut up for two days before then calling the shooter a left wing socialist.

.
Initial evidence shows 2 bombs that are very basic with added shrapnel. It seems to be a warning bomb. Warning of more to come. Caused on 'patriots day in Boston'

Actual terrorist would go for more people at the start instead of at the end.

This is why I continue to hope the bomber was a white dude.  I don't hate white guys - that would be awkward, since I'm a white guy.

No, it's important that it be a white guy because nobody can do anything to white people as a groups.  If it's a black dude, or a hispanic, or an asian, you know damn well that their entire ethnic group is going to go through shiat for weeks if not months after this.  People will randomly suspect them on the street for no reason..  Their kids will get beaten up in schools.  They'll be targetted for unjustified BS by law enforcement.  Property will be busted up.  And hell, if if turns out the bomber's an Arab...well, we saw how we treat them after 9/11....we're STILL persecuting them.

No, it's gotta be a white dude.  We're the only group that no one will dare treat badly.

2 - People who spout off like idiots, trying to start shiat like this have to lick the rake clean after.

Could be.  With the rhetoric being tossed around the political discussions these days, I suppose some bug-fark nutty militia group could try to pull off something like this as a threat against Obama because they're terrified of him taking away their guns.

Truth is, though, it could be anyone.

Which is why people are so quick to find a reason. It helps them make the situation controllable. Then they can fight X so it helps stop something like this from happening again. Someone killed several people and he loved video games? Then we assume X is video games and we control that. That will stop these killings.

What terrifies people during these tragedies is if there is no X. Someone didnt kill because of religion or politics or economy or family or whatever. They killed because they wanted to, and you cant counter that effectively. Finding a cause helps people rationalize it. Thinking anyone can just decide to kill on a whim for no reason terrifies people.

It was basically the prolonging on the Iraq War that got our nation to split into a polar 'with us or against us' mentality. It's sad, really.

You would think we would have learned after Vietnam that nothing divides the country like a decade-long war where the reasons for involvement are sketchy at best.

Islamist apologist worms.

Though not legally binding, the Republican National Committee (RNC) used both signed Loyalty Oaths and spoken Loyalty Pledges as a requirement to attend certain 2004 re-election campaign speeches, a possible first in U.S. election history.

During the 2004 presidential campaign, the campaign of George W. Bush routinely required all attendants at its rallies to take what some have called a "loyalty oath". Those who refused to take the oath were not allowed to attend the rally. The "loyalty oath" was actually a pledge of endorsement. These endorsements were used during some of the campaign rallies in 2004. The Bush campaign asserted that the oath was valid because the president was conducting a partisan campaign event. Opponents countered that the oath was intrusive to individual conscience, somewhat fascist in nature and denied general public access to the president.

To participate in the 2012 Republican Presidential Primary in Virginia, voters will be required to sign a form stating, "I, the undersigned, pledge that I intend to support the nominee of the Republican Party for president."

Must be rough being a McCarthinazi.

I really hope this was a domestic source.

I mean, I realize the political bullshiat will be bad, but think about it:  If it's a foreigner we have MORE xenophobic, constant-war bullshiat that really is bad for this country.  If it's a Muslim we have more screaming islamophobia guiding foreign and domestic policy.  I don't particularly LIKE islam (even the non-wahhabist sects aren't particularly good) but the "religious freedumb except for muzzies" mindset is embarrassingly bad for the nation.

Moreover, ANY foreign source means we start profiling brown-skinned folk, adding more "security" at the expense of liberty, and ignore the continuing machinations of the looters and polluters and murderers and thieves that have made out like bandits the last 12 years.

But a right-wing domestic terror cell?  There will be enough spin and enough couching and enough soft-defense of "they don't speak for US and they don't count because and such" that we might, MIGHT not enjoy the same bullshiat we went through after 9/11.  Because when the enemy is "us" we find reasons for it not to matter as much.

I doubt we'll be that lucky though.  Say hello to further militarization of police forces, rolling back on marijuana legalization because someone made a (nonsensical) connection between "The drugs" and "the terrorists."  Prep for more financial fraud that's too big to prosecute, more double-standards where trust-funders get special exemptions while we get watch lists, and expect random cavity searches for just walking down the street.

Or maybe I'm just a pessimist.

MustangFive: And if it turns out that a RW white dude was the bomber, the Freepers will certainly apologize for their rhetoric and demand justice be done...

Wait, who am I trying to fool here...

They'll claim it was a false-flag job by Taxbongo designed to put their nutty asses squarely in the crosshairs. Then, when Crazy Bomb Guy turns out to have repeatedly told people at his local Tea Party watering hole, as well as at several town hall meetings held by his member of Congress, that "somebody should start bombing shiat... that'll scare the crap out of them libs!", they'll move the goal posts again and say that dude was a liberal plant from the git-go. After which, his family, high school friends, neighbors and anyone who has ever met the guy will go on TV and say that he has been ranting against "Big Gubmint" since he was barely out of diapers, which will cause the Freepers to claim it was Obama in his Magical Time Machine...

"No True Scotsman" is simpler.  "That guy ain't no real conservative! No Real American would go killin' innocent women and children.  Ah-yep, he's a liberal, just like that Tim McVeigh fella.  What's that you said?  Eric Rudolph?  Name don't ring a bell.  That another deluded liberal murderous psychopath?  Sure are a lot of 'em, hard to keep track."

Fair and balanced: if the bomber turns out to be a swarthy muslim, the "No True Adherent of the Religion of Peace" argument will be proffered.

7. CBG (Crazy Bomb Guy) thought, "I got me all them survival manuals and how-to type books on making stuff go 'boom.' If'n I can't use me a gun, I might as well try making a bomb or two.""

That's 7 data points (8 if you consider that the average jihadist-made bomb tends to incur much greater loss of life) that support a domestic anti-government source versus none that support a jihadist source. The point of my original post (which apparently I could have expressed better since everyone seems to be attacking me for it), is that if you're going to speculate at this stage (as the guy in TFA did), the information that is out there leans more towards one conclusion than another.

I could be wrong (hence the "Would seem to" clause indicating uncertainty) but I was commenting on the specifics of TFA and not directly pointing fingers.

For all we know, it could be a random psychopath with absolutely no sociopolitical agenda who found some bomb schematics online and just wants to kill people. Crazy doesn't need a motive.

Whining that Chris Matthews speculated about "right wing" being responsible
Pointing out that Ted Kaczynski and Tim McVeigh were liberals and that all domestic terrorists in prison are Democrats.
Reminders about Weather Underground
Calls to ship all Muslims out of the "civilized world" and to the Middle East.

I could go on.

Exactly.  That's one of the many things that made Newtown so horrendous.  There was no group behind.  It wasn't political.  You can't really anticipate or plan for the lone lunatic when you're looking for chatter or trends or whatever it is that groups do to betray their actions.

Jairzinho: Oh lord. Remember when 9/11 happened and both libs and cons were united behind the President just months after a very divisive election, giving a super boost of his approval ratings? I just saw a Fox News reporter on O'Reilly implying that Obama will have some explaining to do since somehow he let this happen as it was under his watch. Fark them.

Agreed. Saddened but not surprised.

Alex Jones is already calling it a false flag operation and tying it in with the recent plunge in the price of gold.

The fark does the price of gold have to do with anything?  (I know, that's like asking why Aladdin's flying carpet doesn't sag in the middle, but shouldn't there at least be some internal consistancy?)

Is there a time in history (not counting literature) before now that we have put the mentally ill on a pedestal and broadcast their rantings?

I do believe Kristoff (A leftists) was the first to try and exploit the tragedy.

No it doesn't.  You are no better than Rush.  Hilarious that you attack, while attempting to make it political.

Liberals, kings and queens of hypocrisy.

Quoting MustangFive's post

I could be wrong (hence the "Would seem to" clause indicatin ...

Ok Snapper, fine.  You got domestic right wing anti-goverment terrorists, and Erik Rush got Muslim extremists.  Anyone taking mermen?

themindiswatching: Hollie Maea: themindiswatching: I kinda want to see what FR's saying about the bombings, but I'm scared to think what I'll find.

Let's see. In the most recent FR threads we have:

Speculation that it was Occupy Wallstreet.
Jokes about "assault bombs" being banned.

Yeah, about what I expected.

And if it turns out that a RW white dude was the bomber, the Freepers will certainly apologize for their rhetoric and demand justice be done...

Dude, this is an event with people from dozens of countries. Right now, we don't know what the bombers' beef is.

My money's on straight up, American racism from some toothless yokel who is sick of the Kenyans coming over here and winning everything.

It *is* just four days shy of the anniversaries of OKC and Waco, but it anything you can float is just as good as anything else considering we know very little facts at the moment.
