2 killed, 107 injured.

dukeblue219: For all the Farkers who never leave their mother's basement:

Police dogs are common at events with thousands of spectators. The National Guard is often used to help with crowd control and traffic flow with events that occupy a large part of a major city (parades, marathons, protests, etc).

Just because you haven't seen a "bomb dog", or what you assume is a bomb dog, at a marathon before, doesn't mean the dog is part of a vast international governmental conspiracy.

Ask yourself this:
Why was traffic DIVERTED from the path of the Boston Marathon, only for today?
Seems rather CONVENIENT, doesn't it?

If that's true and they were deliberately targeted...

...I really don't want to finish that sentence.

Why plant 2 bombs then?  It's a VIP area, you know exactly where they're going to be.  Also, it hasn't been confirmed and probably bullshiat to begin with.

The second is to catch the first responders. Very common with anyone who wants to cause maximum destruction.

IDK about that, the second one was pretty far away from the first in the videos and went off almost ~15 seconds after the first one. A bomb that was meant for the first responders would have been more effective after about a minute and closer to the original. I think they may have been trying to blow up the whole spectator area at the finish and their bombs didn't all go off exactly as planned.

I was wondering, too. I haven't seen a decent video that showed when/where the second bomb went off. That cell phone video someone posted earlier was weak sauce shiat, it was mostly of the ground, and then it shook...

Nadie_AZ: JustFarkingGreat: Video from finish line of bomb going off -- caution, graphic

Unfarkingreal. Watching that video feels like reliving 9/11 for this native New Yorker... my heart goes out to the victims, families, and first responders...

Reliving 9/11 ... seriously? Am I going to be seeing footage of people hurling themselves from the burning finish line on the evening news? No, this is a tragic event, but we must keep it in perspective.

Perspective is very subjective.  And for people who have lived through traumatic events, even what seems minor to the rest of us can trigger emotions/responses related to the trauma.

I can't believe I have to explain this to someone.

Mandatory death for all terrorists, foreign AND domestic.

If we would execute all domestic terrorists (i.e., those on the US government payroll) there would be no foreign terrorists. At least, none who would be threatening us. Blowback is a baitch. Our politicians have been playing Russian Roulette with our lives ever since our involvement in WW1, and they don't care how many people, American or otherwise, are ruined. This, like 9/11, is a direct and inevitable result of our foreign policy.

Exactly. The Boston Marathon more than most is a celebration of personal achievement, not to mention the great history of the race. It is one of the most significant marathons around. I've been there twice to cheer on my wife and I hope to run it myself one day. It's sobering.

Speaking on behalf of all marathoners, and runners who compete in events in general, I imagine that things won't be the same for a long time to come. I'm not sure how this will impact future races but this just sucks. Which I guess is the point, but why ruin running of all things?

MrHappyRotter: STOP JUMPING TO CONCLUSIONS BEFORE WE HAVE ALL THE FACTS

But the media needs to stoke fear and confusion first by breathlessly reporting BREAKING NEWS when it's really nothing of the sort. They're desperate to be first to report something, so they'll report anything and everything and then issue corrections later.

Hate to say it, but the US media, in instances like this, does 50% of the terrorists' jobs for them, by promoting fear, disgust and total conjecture at whomever did this, ratcheting up the attention, which is EXACTLY what those farks want.

Not to mention wall-to-wall video every 2 minutes.

CNN: "We have new video in that shows the explosion again from a different angle, but beware, this might be disturbing and very frightening."
Terrorists: "Hooray!"

No way only two dead. Go watch the video of the first explosion. At least a half dozen people are within the kill zone of that blast alone. Likely more.

And you know what they say about unconfirmed reports, like stereotypes, they're often correct.

NBC confirmed a suspect is under guard. Police report swollen eyes, broken leg, baton bruises likely do to proximity of the blast.

Way to go, CNN newsroom.

They recently had a story in the sidebar about teenaged girls being forced into prostitution.

That seems like a completely different story, doesn't it?

That might be an accurate headline.  We actually have a situation up here where a number of teenage girls are on trial for keeping other teenage girls as slave-prostitutes.

We now return you to discussion of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Cheers.
